Great review! I‘ve watched pretty much everything that was out there on the R6, and it think this was the only review that covered everything as well as this based on real world usage. This finally....finally cured my upgrade fever! I‘m gonna stick with my R and my Ninja V for 10-Bit for a bit longer, and use the upgrade budget for a gimbal and maybe another lens. I just can‘t deal with yellow cast and I don‘t really need full frame 4K in my workflow. Thanks for talking the time to do this. It was a huge help!

I think that for the IBIS Wobble, for those professional shots, or even just creative shots, having a gimbal to compensate for IBIS in the lens and camera will probably help. If it get's fixed, that would be even better, but if you prefer, get a gimbal to compensate

When using the R5 or R6 with the 15-35mm 2.8 set Ibis to enhanced mode and set the lens to 20mm so the wobble is gone. Or set the camera to crop mode and ibis to mode 1. The lens to 15mm. These were my best results to avoid the wobble. Best wishes from Germany

The IBIS has mixed reactions - Ive seen reviews where its used at 24mm and above and the results look great. One guy got rid of his gimbal because he found the R6 got the shots he needed. PS : I presume the file editing bit was pre M1 Mac - as those files now edit easier.
@HomesteadPictures3 жыл бұрын
In regard to IBIS, I really wish you could control which axis is enabled. From what I understand it's mainly the X-axis that causes the wobble effect. In a perfect world I'd have only the Z-axis enabled to dampen vertical vibrations of steps etc and let a gimbal do the rest.

the only problem with the R6 is that for hybrids you can likely miss a shot when quickly changing from stills to video. You have to put up with canons preset video settings and so fumbling around to create your own and then boom! the shots gone! They should of offer a quick 'custom' video setting like the R5.

Hey Monkeypixel, thanks for the great video! Hopefully, they will also improve the overheating with more firmeware updates. What would you recommend as Canon cameras aside to the R6, which don't have the problems with overheating? So can the canon R record like 2h -4k without overheating? Or is there a camera which can do 4k60p and is not as big like the c100. The thing is, we work at the moment with Panasonics GH5 and we are thinking about changing to canon Full Frame. But we still need then also a camera, which is definitely not overheating as second/third camera.
@damiencooper4 жыл бұрын
the R5 doesn't overheat in 4k24, never had an issue in any other mode either. The original R never overheats, period. The new Sony is also a great camera. Even the old 1DXII has 4K60 without overheating.
