In Brazil there was some celebrities who adopted monkeys as pets some years ago. Most of the animals died in tragic ways. Those guys never took the responsibility over it, nor came into public to regret their decisions and educate people to do not follow their bad examples. Thank you so much for educating people on respecting animals and their true nature.

I’m so glad you’re spreading this message. I had a roommate with this exact species of monkey, whom he failed to socialize and kept in a big cage all the time. There would be times I was home alone and she’d pick the lock on the cage, get out and rage throughout the house. I’d hide in my room until my roommate came home to take care of her. She attacked people, dogs and even me once while feeding her. These animals don’t belong in cages in rich peoples homes or a replacement for a human baby. They belong in the wild! Even though I was bitten by this monkey, I know she was just sad and angry from being isolated. DO NOT BRING A MONKEY HOME TO KEEP AS A PET!!

you just had to do a monkey scream and put one arm on your head and the other under your armpit and altern once a time with a banana in your mouth, i'm sure she would have been cool. Just act like one and bond with him. Capucin should be okay, if it's orang-outang, just run

And why don’t we throw you out into woods,into natural environment to be eaten alive by all kinds of parasites,where you won’t have any painkillers,antibiotics..why you deserve nice house,warm and safe bed at nights,heating,air conditioner,all meds and benefits of science and animals don’t? I know people who have successfully raised (and live together with)much dangerous monkeys than capuchins and these animals are amazing and caring.one case even where monkey girl helped to rise other tiny baby monkey that was thrown away by ,,caring parents,,living in natural environment .These monkeys would be dead if not for humans who picked them up,rescued and raised and they have grate life,better their family in wilderness can dream off.Enjoy them in their natural environment would be looking at them how they die.Thanks God there are people who give them a chance in life and buy the way for those monkeys the normal thing is to eat from a dish with spoon,drink from a cup and watch TV with other monkeys,they recognise other monkeys they ,,fallowing,,Online and are hooked to internet and iPad more than I😂 They wouldn’t even last couple days in wilderness,probably couple hours at best and would get depressed if in morning don’t see next chapter of some rescue monkey Chanel they fallow 🤣 Natural environment for everyone is different,what’s norm for one is death for other,For one the natural environment is jungle and for other the house,car,city with vets.Same as for humans.Many human tribes still live in nature,does that mean our natural environment is wilderness and we all two need to be freed ? Would you leave you’re house and everything you have and go live in jungle with some tribe? Wouldn’t even grab some antibiotics and antiparasitical pills with you? 😉🤣 But I bet you would be so cute running around jungle half naked 😉 so much for natural environment 🤦🏼♀️

Just a tiny bit of unsolicited advice: I wouldn’t always lead/put too much emphasis on the statement that monkeys take a lot of time to care for. Because then you’re going to get older, retired people, maybe who even live in rural areas, who will say “I’m retired and have all the time in the world”. They’ll think THEY are the best possible caretaker because they have time (and money). I’ve noticed you have to be really blunt and firm with people who want pet monkeys. They need to hear the grizzly, awful truth, because otherwise they have an answer for everything. Bless you for doing what you do!

I'm glad you made this video. If ppl actually watched how monkeys live in the wild, they would understand that the babies feed all day whenever the baby is hungry . They need their troop to teach them how to live. They have rich social lives in the wild. And babies, don't leave the mom for quite a while. Being torn from the mother's arms is traumatic for mom and baby. They aren't dogs. And it is impossible to raise one correctly in a home setting. The babies need 24 hr care.

I have wrestled with the idea of adopting a monkey or two or three of my own but after seeing this and learning more that yes monkeys are adorable and cute, they are NOT house pets mostly due to their environment, the amount of attention they require and so forth and everything explained in this video! I'll stick to visiting them at my local zoo and interacting with them
@chadbowcut3901 Жыл бұрын
Lucky you can interact with them here in Utah, you can see monkeys in a zoo from about 100 yards away. No chances of getting close enough to interact. I think alot of people want monkeys to interact with them, and if more zoos allowed interaction, I think less monkeys will be pets.
@hikkchik11 ай бұрын
He left a lot out, too, like the fact that taking them from their mothers traumatizes them. They grieve for months over her. If the baby is captured in the wild, the mother is usually killed because it's easier to do that than just take the baby without being attacked. The screams of a baby monkey calling desperately for its mother are both earsplitting and heartbreaking
@hikkchik7 ай бұрын
@@tracybear73 At least you LISTEN. Most people don't, especially the ones who are fans of the pet monkey channels. I can quote primate experts, scientists, former pet monkey owners about how they are NOT domesticated and should never be pets, and I get told I'm stupid and know nothing. I'm not giving my own opinions, I'm quoting people who have spent a fortune on their education to learn about these animals, and have spent their entire adult life studying them, but I guess they're stupid too. smh.
@hikkchik7 ай бұрын
@@tracybear73 There's a sanctuary in Africa called the Vervet Monkeys Foundation that takes in orphan baby vervets and pairs them with an adult female Vervet foster mother. But before they can do that, the orphans have to be a certain age, so humans care for them until they can be paired with a mom monkey. If I were 20 years younger, I would LOVE to volunteer as a caretaker. The babies have to have affection to thrive, so the volunteers get to cuddle them.

Some are so tiny they can barely bottle feed them, and they act like they’re starving. They call them their “babies”. They don’t realize it’s a long term commitment and I don’t believe they should be allowed to breed and sell wild animals. Those people do not have the animals best interest at heart. Amazing sharing ❤️Not even apply for wild animals like monkeys, but also for other pet animals like dogs as well, if people cannot take the whole responsibility, then definitely not recommend to buy them in the first place 🙏

I’ve owned one before I gave him a good life but he sadly died from a disease, but he’s seeing his maker and that’s good. I was sad but he’s in a better place and I got over it. It’s hard work to raise one.

I could watch your videos all day. I love watching you with all the different animals. My favorites are the lions, the monkeys, and the hyena. I love that you moved Chuckles right next to your back yard so you can visit him more often & have him closer to you so he's never lonely. I admire the love and respect you have for all the animals & vice versa. I really enjoy listening to you talk about & educate people on each species & their personalities. It's so obvious that you truly love what you do & it's so admirable. It's such an inspiration to see how happy you are with them and how happy they are with you. The level of trust they have in you is truly remarkable. You're living the dream dude. I would give anything to visit there & see you interact with them in person. It's probably top 5 on my bucket list. lol. But for real tho, it is.

Anyone ever tell you that you have the best job in the world? The work you do is amazing, not to mention the 120% of your life that you give a these critters. I wish there were more animal advocates/lovers like you out there to watch out for those endangered and/or abandoned babies out there. I have to say that I'm totally envious of your life on the reserve. If only I were 40 years younger...

Thank you for this Dean! It hurts me to see "adopted" monkeys being kept & treated like human babies! It's so wrong but the videos are sanctioned and spread allover! They must be with their natural mother. When orphaned, only professionals must take over to raise them. Thank you AGAIN, Dean!!!!

It's crazy to think my grandmother had one of these and in New York, too. Apparently she took amazing care of it and had it most of her life. I would never have a wild animal as a pet. I'm so glad you educate people. And in such a wonderful way that doesn't judge or attack anyone.

In Indonesia, animal abuse is still very high, such as monkeys and horses, who work like a circus in bad weather and conditions, starve and get killed in the process. People still put a blind eye to this thing because it is entertainment for them, especially kids. It's really hard to spread awareness and teach it when people and governments don't take it seriously.

Getting a pet is already a big responsibility, getting a pet that’s sentient is so much more.
