I'm now wondering... (Spoilers for both Xenoblade Chronicles 1 + 2) Melia: Is a half blood High Entia (aka has to deal with racist tones) Got 4 bodyguards killed. Stepmother wants her dead. Father dies right in front of her. When she starts falling in love with Shulk, Fiora arrives and dashes any hopes of that happening. Shulk dies (temporarily) Entire Race dies. Her brother is kissed and she is forced to kill him. Nia: Awoke from her core crystal to heal her "sister". Is forced to become a flesh eater, aka her sister is dead. Lives in poverty. Father dies, leaving Nia all alone, with only Dromach (who now that I think about it, if that's her father's blade, imagine the trauma of seeing a old friend not remember anything.... I now really want to know more about Dromach's past) Is hunted by nearly every military for being a flesh eater. Gets betrayed by her own team. Has to deal with not showing her powers due to the fear of being exposed as a flesh eater, letting Vandham die (though let's be real, Pyra/Mythra are also to blame for not using their full power earlier) Nia gets rejected in the most embarrassing way possible (though she seems fine with it) All Torna Members die (which she would be most affected by Jin). Going through some unknown nightmare that Zanza set up. I mean both suffer through deaths of a brother/sister and father, have to deal with being judged by being half blood/flesh eater and are sidelined for the main girls (which Fiora is good, Mythra is good and Pyra is my least favourite character). The main difference is that we see the suffering of Melia firsthand, while Nia's suffering has already happened. I don’t get why they bring fiora back tbh. It would have been better for her to stay dead. The narrative’s starter was good enough, we don’t need her to suddenly show up mid game. I think it makes much more sense for shulk to slowly move on from his dead girl and find happiness with melia as it’s way more realistic that way.
