Monq, you’re on the right track with your musings about whether Taemin is dancing the choreo as it is or changes things. You need to watch iheartradio interview (done by chief Taemint Stacy Nam), he’s talking about his dancing, who was his inspiration, what does he think about dancing in general, how does he feel about his own performances... it’s an amazing insight into Taemin the dancer and Taemin the artist. Even when the dance is choreographed by someone else it’s never left the same as the choreographer has imagined. Taemin is changing his dancing all the time, which is easy to notice when you watch concert performances of particular song one after another. Even his iconic Move changed with time. Also, Koharu (one of his main choreographers and amazing dancer herself) said that Taemin has what makes dancer great - he’s making every choreography his own, from the very moment he starts to learn it. You were right, dance crew in PYN is the same as in Drip Drop, both MVs we’re filmed at the same time and the same location (as in in LA and surroundings). There’s a documentary somewhere on internet about filming those two songs, check it out as well to see how freaking hardworking Taemin is, repeating shots million times because they have to be perfect, he has to be perfect. I can’t wait for your reactions to his concert performances!

The move that you appreciated (where he gets up with just the strength of his ankles), he has performed it live in so many shows and concerts and still ppl can't believe he can do that... There is a compilation of all the times he has done that move.So many times we can see in fancams that his own back up dancers have trouble and take support of either hands or knees, with effort while getting up from that position, but taemin does it so effortlessly everytime that too while singing his heart off live...

Monq the MJ reference, is spot on all the time, he truly is like a second MJ, Taemin unlike most dancers has that way of making every dance his own, he learns a dance in the same way everyone else does, but when he performs it it's like something completely different, I was watching USA for Africa, we are the world, and I swear when MJ came up wearing that uniform with the gold ... I thought dang, this is exactly Taemin ! Taemin dressed the exact same way for his concerts, he truly looks up to MJ and that's very clear.

Taemin has a lot of input in his dances even if he's not the one who made the choreography. He learns it and then make it his own. And the choreography keeps on evolving cause he keeps making minute changes to it. The songs that I know for certain he made the full choreography of are Artistic Groove, Day and Night, and Guess Who. Thanks again for the reaction Monq 😊. Regarding the choreography, you are right about taemin weaving his own style in any choreography given to him to add to the taemin style, he actually puts a lot of input in choreo a to make sure theres taemin flare added to it and not just accept the choreographers choreography. He studies it, sees how it fits with the song, understands why such moves are put in certain parts and just overall he’s very detailed about his art and strives for perfection.

Dang! This is my most favorite of all Taemin's song. You got to see another of Tae's amazing dance moves although on music shows and in his concerts the ending choreo were differrent. You can actually see the alt ending in his Press It Medley mv. It's a medley of the songs in the Press It album put together in an mv. If there's a list, I hope "What's this feeling" from his 2018 Sirius concert is included. I chose the live because it's simply wonderful. The energy, Taemin's smile, the dancer, it's so wholesome. "Press Your Number" came out in 2016, so at this point Taemin is 22 years old and he can pretty much buy alcohol in any country in the world. He is not a little boy any more. LOL The story in the MV is supposed to be Taemin's alter ego. He is battling himself. The guy with the gun who is committing the crimes is his -- or his character's -- inner demons and when you see him tied up and regretting his actions that is supposed to be the good side of Taemin. You see flashes of both the girl and him tied up because it's supposed to be alternate realities or situations depending on which part of himself is in control. How I interpret the blue rose is, it's supposed to signal the moment where things are not real -- these are moments where Taemin's character is battling with his mind to try and keep a grip on reality. The more roses, the further from reality he is, etc.Being tied up and unable to speak is a metaphor for being trapped inside your mind by self-doubts and indecision, etc. The colors blue/aqua/green play a big part in a lot of what SHINee does because aqua blue/green is SHINee's fan color, so it is used not only as part of the aesthetic of the MV, but it is also supposed to represent Shawols (SHINee fans) and the fact that even as a soloist, Taemin is still a member of SHINee, etc. Press Your Number" was originally wrote and composed by Bruno Mars.When SM bought the rights to the song and gave it to Taemin, Taemin and his team translated the words into Korean and changed the style and beat up a little to fit Taemin's style and to make it acceptable for a Korean audience. (Believe it or not, but the original lyrics were even more racy than this. LOL) The choreography for the song also was 100% Taemin inspired. There's a reason why Taemin is considered one of THE BEST dancers and artists in the industry And as you can see, that's why people say he embodies MJ. No one can do what Taemin does -- many have attempted to copy him -- but there is just something special about the way he moves that can't be duplicated. "Press Your Number" is the title track off his Press It album and it was the second release from the album. You should check out the other song and MV from this album, "Drip Drop." Both ""Press Your Number" and "Drip Drop" were filmed in L.A. Because California is a union state the staff and backup dancers needed to be from California and they needed to use union members in order to get permits and to be given permission to film there, so that is one of the reasons why he decided to use non-Asian, western backup dancers. Although, as you saw, with "Press Your Number" they made several versions of this MV. But for "Drip Drop" they only made a performance version, and you will understand why when you see that MV --it's all about the performance. :D I can't wait for you to see Taemin in concert as a soloist. As with everything he does, the songs and choreography are always better live.His Tokyo solo Concert DVD is the best concert footage to check out.

I like how you pay a lot of attention and you notice a lot of detailes. I'm not meaning just this video, but all others too. I see you enjoy the dancing much, maybe one day you can try to react to Rain, his dance is also from other dimension. He even choreographed another bands! Keep up your videos, they are fantastic. I love your references Monq, Penny Dreadful are you kidding me? I loved this show! As for our Taemin he is a musical and dancing genius and you will be clearly able to see it once you finally check his solo concerts! He takes control over everything regarding his shows from stage production (he even invented a slope stage in TMI) through music arrangements of his songs to of course the choreography (I don’t mean he makes the whole choreo, but he surely has a lot of input). He constantly changes and improves different elements to make it a perfect spectacle. People don’t talk about it much they would rather joke about his “magic hands” or his awkwardness, but Taemin is a very intelligent and super perceptive man. He successfully took part in math contests when he was a kid and Jonghyun claimed that among all SHINee members he had the deepest and most profound convos with Taemin. I thought I would mention it. Anyway I can’t wait for you to check out his live concerts! I would strongly recommend two of his last year’s concerts - TMI (1001101 - the binary system title that Taem invented) it was held in March in Seoul and at the end of the year in Japan and the other masterpiece (production-wise it was the most mesmerizing of his concerts in my opinion) was his Xtm arena tour concert (available on KZbin is the DVD version from the last concert in Tokio). You will be blown away!

I highly suggest watching taemin concerts even in your own time every concert is different in a sense even if the song has a set choreography for it every concert he changes up a bit so his concerts always remain unique. I would suggest the concert where he used a angled stage to perform in.

So I don't know the name of the actual move, but it has a history with the Boogaloo and one of the pioneers are from California named, if my memory is correct, Boogaloo Sam. He and Poppin Taco, Popping Pete, Mr Wiggles and Skeeter. They were called the Electric Boogaloos. Popping Pete was the one mostly responsible for that style of dance. 🕉️🙏🏾💎❤️😁⛩️
