This is a recap video of fishing Watts Bar on 2/16/17 and 2/17/17. My friend Travis Vandergriff and I started out on the Clinch River side of Watts Bar on 2/16. We had decent current so we were able to drift. We caught several fish including a decent blue cat and a trophy flathead. On 2/17, we fished an area on the TN River side of Watts Bar. We didn't have much current and the wind was giving us fits so spent the day trolling. We caught a few fish including a tanker blue cat that took me on one heck of a ride. I also attempted planer boards for the first time. Water temp both days was 50 degrees.

I can't thank you enough for putting out these videos. I'm not a great fisherman nor am I catfishermen but I am a kayak fishermen and I run a Heroes on the Water chapter in Nebraska. I have a good lake nearby that I would like to take vets fishing on and I know I can use the information you have put out. I will be trying to get two kayaks set up and some gear to try this out before the ice comes which won't be to far off.

Same style planer board I make. Currently working on a dual function board for pulling U-Rigs and trophy cat fishing. These will be a bit larger and extra foam to them to support the pull of rigs and the weight of heavier sinkers.

Nice blue Justin! Is it easier for you to stand and bring the big fish in or can you lean enough to the opposite side to slide them in the kayak? I have yet to fish out of my kayak since I am waiting for warmer weather and ice out. Which way is more stable with a stable kayak? I do know you have to keep you head in the middle. I plan on starting out with my seat in the low position on the Vibe SG130 at first to get used to the stability. Thanks in advance!

hello Tennessee catfish Angler that was an awesome video. I had a question for you about the planer boards wondering if you can answer it for me, what exactly is the concept of them planer boards is it to keep your bait suspended from the ground? or to give you distance between your rods?

+Adrian Grimaldo You can suspend or drag baits with them. For me in the kayak, I am simply hoping to use them to get some distance between my baits when trolling. When I am trolling two rods off the back of the kayak, the fish often spins me and ends up tangled in my other line because they are so close together. I am hoping this alleviates that problem.
