I bought a converted 2019 MWB Sprinter with the Owl spare wheel carrier, bike rack and box. My Sprinter had its first MOT (road worthy test) and it failed because the box obscured the right hand rear light cluster. You can only see it if you are more than 20 metres away. It’s dangerous. I was waiting to turn right and the car behind couldn’t see me indicating so went to overtake me as I turned right. No one was hurt. I’m now having to get additional LEDs fitted into the bumper. I need the box for storage but this needs better design.

Would the Sherpa be capable of holding this, loaded or only the B2? Thanks, keep up the innovation.

Very nice. Have you considered doing the horizontally split doors on the Large box also?

How much does the box weigh and how much gear weight can we carry using the box on the swing out arms?

This does not use swing outs. Our carriers mount to the door and open with the door. Load capacity on th carrier is 150lbs

@@owloffroad I would be very interested in this. I have the swing out tire carrier on drivers side.

@@owloffroad It says it needs to be mounted on something like the B2 module but I don't see one for a NVC3 so what do you recommend?

Hello John, I've been watching your Owl Van Conversion channel for quite a while and also ended up purchasing few things from you guys,... yet I noticed that "you don't like watersports" (joking). 😊 There are thousands of people that enjoy the freedom of the beach and mobility of the vans and they travel with lots of gear but there are not too many storage option to fit the gear for this segment. Anyway,… with few minor changes the existing design of your boxes would spread the specter of the applications for those boxes (which translate into tapping into a new pool of potential customers since you address their needs). The WindSurfing and Surfing community kind of shrinked, some migrated towards Kiteboarding, Kitesurfing and Winging so overall the watersports community is getting bigger and bigger every year so I don't know how many riders could be in the skiing and snowboarding but the Kiting and Winging crowd is getting larger by the year. (FYI: - KiteBoarding is with a TwinTip board like the wakeboard. - KiteSurfing is with a short Surfboard or a Hydrofoil set. - SnowKiting is with skis or snowboards. That been said, the Kiting & Winging phenomenon is in overdrive worldwide scale having adepts in therms of thousands in USA and having tens upon tens of thousands worldwide with few World Championships every year (each discipline with its own World Championship). Kiteboarding/Kitesurfing is practiced by people from all walks of life from school kids to people in their 90’s, from poor to billionaires (see Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos, etc), from factory workers to Presidents (see Barak Obama) - you can google it and it would be easy to understand this phenomenon. The people who do stay lengthier periods of time in “van-life” are usually: - young college - people with their own small to mid-level business which can afford take off time - retired people with lots of time to spare and loving the sunny CA or FL - IT or other areas that can work remote via internet - Professional Kite Athletes sponsored by the kite brands and/or others like RedBull, etc. Since all of the above are living/working for extensive period of times in the van, obviously the need of space is crucial and on top of that they don’t want to bring the sand and other dirt from the gear inside the van where they stay - which means your storage option (with few adjustments and changes) could be perfect for this application. Based on all that I’ve mentioned so far, a storage option that would fit within the following measurements would be great (approximate measures) as follows: - TwinTip boards - biggest TT size would be 165x55cm - Kitesurf boards - largest usual size would be 170x60cm - Hydrofoil boards - larger usual size would be 155x60cm (so the common measure here would be (approx) 170x60cm) Beside the boards mentioned above would be kites (in the bags), neoprene, and other accessories that would stay in accessory bags which would mainly be 60x50x40 (approx). Of course some people would have one small board (135 to 140cm) + one large board (150 to 160cm), together with 2 or 3 kites + neoprene and accessories but there are also others (like the PRO athletes) which would have multiple kites, boards, etc. One common thing is that almost all of those are interested in vans so they can also live in and definitely 4x4 since many go on beaches close to the water (or as close as possible) to have all gear needed closely accessible. Some (with more money) would have the Revel, Airstream, Storyteller, etc, others would have a self converted van, others would use their business van, but all will require storage space for their hobby/leisure/sport. Given all of the above you may want to consider giving a thought at tapping into this potential market which may possibly surprise you

Curious about the weight on those door hinges. Is there a concern of monster box overload? Thanks.
