The animation in this movie terrified me more than anything else in it. Like, it’s somehow nailed that realistic-yet-also-not-realistic point at the deepest pit of the uncanny valley.

Imo, despite what these guys say, I think that's what makes the animation good in this movie, and using old mocap methods effectively. In a mocap movie where the uncanny valley animation doesn't fit the vibes it's going for (like the Polar Express movie, though I'll admit having a soft spot for that movie too), than it's not the best animation style for that movie. With Monster House, it fits because the movie always intended to make itself look like what would happen if Norman Rockwell wanted to illustrate a horror novel, and the uncanny valley mocap helps with that vibe.

For this movie, it was actually people live-acting it in those weird suits with ping-pong balls. The reason the animation was so slow was because it was actual people and not just animated characters. It was called performance capture animation. It's really cool.

Sometimes we watched movies and one of them was Monster House, on Halloween. I swear to god no movie has ever scared me this much. Fun fact: The movie was originally supposed to be a live action movie in 1998, and would've been directed and designed by Wishmaster creator, Robert Kurtzman (makeup artist of many horror films including Evil Dead, Spawn, New Nightmare, Jason Goes to Hell, and even The Walking Dead). His idea had the house have eternal human organs inside of the house instead of a carpet for a tongue and glass window for eyes but were to have a real tounge, teeth, flesh for walls and such. One concept art online had the tree arms attacking a kid inside of his own house. It's not clear if it was supposed to be a kids movie or a R rated body horror movie but with the concept of a house with organs, it might as well be.

Concrete does in fact have cement as one of the components. However, cement can actually be used on it's own. It is generally not as strong and does not last as long. Cement is better used for small jobs such as; repairs, setting posts, etc. Concrete is better for bigger jobs; walkways, patios, driveways, etc.

As a subcontractor I had to comment. Cement is in concrete. But you can mix a batch of cement without it being concrete. Concrete has a bunch of gravel and small stones in it. Usually used for sidewalks. Cement is used more as a filler. It's just water and Cement mix so it doesn't have small stones in it. Makes it smoother and easier to fill small spaces with. It's used as mortar between bricks. You can use it to fix small cracks or holes in your sidewalk. Constance being buried in Cement makes sense. Simply because the layer over her body looks incredibly smooth. Where as if it was concrete. To get that smooth appearance you'd have to put in a little work to make the water rise to the top and stones sink down further. Otherwise she'd look like she's textured or covered in gravel

I actually do have a vacuum cleaner like that where it does pull itself forward. It was common in the early 60s apparently. It's not an effective design for a vacuum cleaner. It's really hard to use.
