the intro was cute but I was a little confused as to why the mizutsune just let the felynes leave rather than trying to eat them, that wasn't until I realized he's not hungry or angry, just cranky because they woke him up

Mizutsune are very peaceful animals by nature, like you could probably just walk up and pet it and it wouldn't mind. They typically try to avoid conflicts but they will defend themselves if provoked. If the provoker decides to leave, they will not give chase. The only reason why we hunters go after them is because the males go a little crazy during mating season.

During mating season Mizutsune males can go berzerk and attack everything in sight. So if one is seen near human settlements it needs to be taken care of, so hunts are posted. Otherwise they are pretty docile.

Having Negate Bind will render its bubbles near useless, even helpful! The claws are very hard, white sharpness or higher is needed to hit them without bouncing. The head, tail, or hind legs are better targets. Fire is actually a worse element to use on them, they resist it a little. Use Thunder instead.

The mizutsune seems like such a nice creature that is just found at the worst possible time, mating season. Like I’m sure if you didn’t meet one during mating season it would be a fairly docile and even friendly creature. I’ve only really played Rise so if there’s a monster hunter game where you do meet a Mizutsune outside of mating season, let me know what happens
