So if this new monster is a new vampire type? I can imagine it causes bleed on you, and then gathers the damage you take “blood” and builds it up. Maybe it then does a Vaal hazek style animation where he absorbed the effluvia from surrounding monsters, but instead it absorbs the bleed proc and causes a ton of damage and gains a breath weapon or enraged state

Im glad about that as well, because it means I can get the PC version of Rise at launch, and then get the DLC only for PC. Dont need to get the DLC for Switch if its releasing on the same day as PC, its good for my wallet.

I only played World on PC, it absolutely sucked watching and hearing about so many people having fun with Iceborne on consoles while I was left sitting around with my thumb up my butt, stuck with the base game for months. The confirmation of a simultaneous release for Rise's expac definitely has me super jazzed~

I love how Rise was full on Japanese style, but then Sunbreak comes along and is like “nah, we going full gothic horror now, get your wooden stakes and silver chains ready!” I’m honestly hyped for this and will be going back to hunting when this finally releases. Hope the new elder dragon gives a vampire lord themed armor set with dragon under tones.

I’m almost sure this means we’ll get “Ghost ‘n’ Goblins” and “Castlevania” crossover events from this new expansion. It just screams gothic. The idea of the wirebug turning into the vampire killer sounds pretty sick. And having an Arthur skin and Lance is just a no-brainer since they’ve done it before.

Imagine fighting this thing (or any other turned monster), and as your fighting it, it's turning the other monsters in the map into its undead legion, and they all go Savage Jo on you and your party.

@@remmer3380 and Gore was fought in Low Rank onwards, this new monster is Master Rank, so it's been lurking in the shadows all this time, and based on the Silver found in Tatara Steel (Kamura's signature commodity alongside Bunny Dango!) and the red veins and eyes on Apex monsters, I'd bet money that this monster has been sending these powerful monsters our way to prevent us Kamura hunters from coming to it's homeland, it likely senses the Silver in our weapons and wants to get rid of us to prevent does in it's home from slaying it and it used the Narwa and Ibushi conflict to conceal it's actions, heck even if the storm serpents caused the big dangerous Rampages, for all we know; the smaller and less severe Rampages in the past were caused by this Vampiric Dragon, with it acting cautiously and silently to avoid drawing any attention to itself, and when the serpents are active it acts more brazenly, sending more Apex's our way than ever before... even after the 2 serpents bite the dust, and that is how we find him, they could say something like: "This latest Rampage was quite formidable, but there is something quite odd that I noticed; it's regarding the Apex monsters that lead the hoards, they have always appeared alongside the Rampage over the last few centuries, but looking at them now, it seems quite unlikely that Narwa and Ibushi caused them to appear, if it was hoards of them then it'd be a no-brainer, but they're normally very rare, that fact; combined with the stark physical and psychological changes undergone by Apex monsters, leads me to believe that there is another monster out there, triggering these events, all the while using the conflict caused by the 2 serpents to conceal it's actions... I know it seems very outlandish; the idea of a powerful monster turning other monsters into violent killing machines, it goes against almost everything we were taught about nature, but the horrible truth is this... something like this has happened before!" Then Rondine comes in, explains everything and we go to her homeland and all that jazz!

Regarding map count: - MH3U added Misty Peaks (returning from Portable 3rd) - MH4U added "one" map, the Dunes (returning from MH1 + day/night versions) - MHGU added Ruined Pinnacle and two returning maps (MH2 Desert & Jungle) - Iceborne added Hoarfrost Reach and Guiding Lands Regarding "stories" (plural): Except for World, we know previous MH games typically had split progression between village and hub quests -- not just the progression itself, but the storyline too. For example, in MH Rise the village quests seem to highlight Magnamalo's role in the Rampage, while the (highrank) Hub quests highlight the Rampage itself (leading to its final bosses Ibushi and Narwa). And in Generations, the highrank story focused on the Ruined Pinnacle and Valstrax which was decidedly _not_ the same as the highrank hub story (i.e. the discovery of Nakarkos). Clearly we do not know what to expect in Sunbreak, but if it follows the "old world" trend then highrank Village and Master Rank Hub quests could very will feature parallel, independent storylines.

I'm commenting now. But it was hilarious seeing that flashback scene of Ruri and Gaijin talking about it then Nintendo's just like, "Hold my beer". Especially that I was just finished watching the related vid. I really hope whenever I open Rise on my Switch, the start-up screen also said, "Hold my beer" XD ALSO, not really related, but given Ruri's favorite HAT. I have this layered armor I made for my hunter that I really love. It's made up of Wroggi Head, Arms, and Legs. Then the Chest and Waist are made of Mosgharl. Since the Mosgharl armor's original Orange/Brown-ish pigment, it's pretty easy to tweak the color to match the Wroggi parts. I see this as something close to a Shadow-Hunter/Demon-Hunter fashion(like Van Helsing). Then I swap the Head, Arms, and Legs with Bazel(while still keeping the Mosgharl Chest and Waist), and turning all pigment to Black, and it looks like my Hunter just turned into a Were-wolf. I really hope Ruri sees this and checks it out. I think he'll like it. :D

A lot of people think that the new locale has to be related with Rondine, which I also belive the same. But I'm thinking about someone else too. Fukashigi the Informant says about Yomogi: " An air of ""exaltation"" emanates from Yomogi - a sort of prestige or nobility well outside the norm. Perhaps she was born into a distant aristocracy, or more... " And maybe Rondine is there to keep an eye on Yomogi too.

Never before a portable MH garnered this much interest tbh.. even MH4 while beloved by the hardcore community is still a very niche title and not many newcomers will be willing to play it.. So IMHO they already served the purpose of a "Single Player" game.. People are forgetting this MH while it has online multiplayer option is still a Single Player at it's core and will eventually feel stale once it's finished.. How much fun and interest can you get out of it will be VERY SUBJECTIVE and will vary from person to person..

This announcement confirms to me that most of the resources of Rise after allmother went to expansion and pc If we got more major title updates between allmother and now I doubt we would have gotten sunbreak confirmed for same day on both switch and pc

Sunbreak is a natural phenomenon that the word is considered to have origins in Pacific Northwest English so may have Western theme with monsters. Plus Japan is land of Rising Sun so maybe that's why one of the reasons it's called Rise as well as verticality and rising up against the rampages as well as Japanese theme
