HBG Main here, it looks like loading Wyvernheart feels about twice as fast compared to the last two games, that visual bit of tech clipped onto the side of the gun is a lovely visual addition as well, and we can back-hop now...yeah, papa's eating good this year. The one thing I personally want though, is the ability to switch between Wyvernheart or Wyvernsnipe with any Bowgun, even if I have to go back to base to do it. I hate Wyvernsnipe, I don't like using HBG's that have it.

I'm not trying to refute your preference for wyvernheart, but what made me like wyvernsnipe in world/iceborne is a crit draw hbg meme build. You slap a rocksteady mantle, latch onto the monster and do a claw attack which is an auto crit due to crit draw. And because wyvernsipe claw attack is just one big attack, compared to wyvernheart's multi-hit attack, it deals ome huge crit everytime. It was such a fun build despite being mostly a meme build. I know clutch claw won't be back for wilds, but I hope a similar mechanic would be present that will allow meme builds like that. Maybe we can do something similar with focus mode and then a wyvernheart hit. Lol

I don't see why they even made it so a gun had wyvernheart or wyvern snipe. Like you literally had bow gun customization jist have an option to pick one or the other. I would also love to use gun Lance but not being able to pick what type of ammo is in the Lance is also stupid but this is a bot off topic

Looking like HBG is now one of the more defensive weapons and maybe LBG is more of the offensive weapon

I don't think so. Categorizing using offense or defense is not accurate imo because there are no roles like tank, support or DPS. LBG has much more mobility yes, but dodging instead of blocking like the HBG is not more offensive. The two bowguns have different means of survivability and the HBG will still have more DPS and less utility. In a game like Monster Hunter with no roles a weapon has to fulfil a more "defensive" weapon is strictly worse. Rather different weapons have different amounts of survivability und utility.

3:15 notice how the game is referencing this as ignition mode, whenever the blue bar is involved, and when the hunter did a wyvernheart earlier he attached something to the heavy bowgun and it drained Only the blue bar and not his special ammo , as you can see in the video clip he still has the ignition clip on the bowgun but this time when he shot his special ammo it also drained the blue bar and the special shots , I’m assuming when you go into ignition mode there is a few things you can start doing once you have that clip attached to the bowgun, and it’s going to be visible with the ignition clip on, but ultimately you will need the blue bar for all actions in ignition mode from what I’m seeing

It’s good that the developers realise that since the fun hit the monster and the monster attack from front hence it is like a tank similar but just using gun instead of lance hence the defence aspect is important for survivalbility

man i loved melee combat right up until rise and i feel like i cant do anything but ranged now. this video has me WAY more hyped than the greatsword video and i've never even mained either of the bowguns. rise bow was boarderline broken to be fair, but adding in the gyro controls with switch made it just butter to me. i play primarily on PC now, but with a controller, and use gyro for any game with shooting mechanics. so i feel like i almost have to go ranged now. (i personally try out all weapons in the training arena in a new title before settling on one. using the same main from game to game seems like it would get boring too quickly)

Wyvernheart looks good, and I'm interested in how things might change with manual guarding, and if it's a universal feature now. Having rapidfire for certain ammo is definitely going to be a big deal, and the way that charged sticky shot was fired makes me wonder if there's a mode or something that's bringing in the charged shots from Rise. Charging rapidfire would feel SO good. So far I don't see anything I dislike about Wilds' HBG.

One observation, the ammunition he is using appears to be water. But the water impact effect also applied to the monster even during ignition mode. This may mean that the HBG element now applies to any normal ammunition as well as the bow, and is not a single ammunition as before. (Maybe it will now be possible to build dragon elements with bowguns)

This makes me curious what they have changed about light bowgun, maybe they have gone back to heavy leaning more into physical and light into elemental as they have added a burst fire mode to heavy? In the focus video there is also a gun cameo at the end that uses a simmilar charged strike but that gun doesnt look like it has an obvious shield, might be that the shield is optional or maybe the focus strike is shared between guns?

imo, I think normal shots have been upgraded to have 3 bullets come out by default to make them cooler, I don't think they gave HBG rapid fire.

I never really liked how critical distance didn't work if you were too close..... like that's when your bullets have the most speed and firing power. Plus if I can dance underneath the monster to shoot it, I think I shouldn't get punished for that

So a faster loading Wyvern Heart and an ALREADY existing Rapid Fire but for HBG which i'm fairly certain some of the Kjarr HBGs have.That back-hop is definitely new and makes for better positioning with Spread ammo instead of fat rolling.
