Mine won’t idle with the choke off and barely runs choke on. Choke off for it to run I have to keep the revs up and if it drops revs a bit I can’t get the engine to get its revs back up, I’ve cleaned the carb so not sure what’s wrong

Hello Lucas, When you cleaned the carb, did you remove it? Sounds like the gasket could be damaged or possibly one of the springs in the linkage is wrong. Hope this helps you! Good luck and thanks for watching!!

Can u plzz tell me WHY my mm80 won't go when weight is put on it. I've cleaned the carb several times still won't go.
@DIYWilly6 ай бұрын
Hello maxmason, It’s hard for me to diagnose your problems just from what you described. Just because you cleaned the carb doesn’t mean it’s right. Is the float adjusted correctly? Are the gaskets still good or could they be damaged. Could be fuel delivery. Are the valves adjusted correctly. How old is the engine? Might need a rebuild. That’s all I can offer without seeing and hearing it. Good luck man! Thanks for watching!!!

I hope it helps. Thanks for watching. And Spike is a great bird but at 20yrs old he is very stubborn. I always tell him quite on the set and he will be quite till I turn on the camera. Never fails. I’ve had complaints about him but honestly he has been in my videos since day one and he’ll stay that way. Do you have a minibike build?

@DIYWilly3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a great start. When doing the cam look at the 265 and upgrading the valve springs. With these modifications you should be thinking of the usual billet parts to help the engine stay safe. Stock fly wheels and rods have been proven to not last long in modified engines. Have fun and stay safe

Is that spacer needed in between the carb and engine block? Mine cracked and I want to bypass it
@DIYWilly Жыл бұрын
Hello Mark, Been so long since I worked on those and watched this video I wasn’t sure what you were referring too. I guessing the insulator for the carb. It helps keep engine temperature from going to the carb. It can be removed but best if you can maybe repair it. If you have the ability to fabricate and weld then better off switching to a PZ19 style carb. I’ll be working on one of those Lifan engine soon trying squeeze some power from it. Thanks for watching!!

I cleaned my carburetor now it moved slowly if I sit on it won't moved and would not stay on unless you move the clutch

Did you double check the throttle and governor linkage? Will it respond to the throttle? Also did you get the holes in the gasket correct when reinstalling. Could have a vacuum leak
@sayblaze3 жыл бұрын
@@DIYWilly it doesn't have a hole in the gasket the throttle response well it only stays on when throttling it when you let go it cut off
@DIYWilly3 жыл бұрын
Did you clean the tiny holes in the jets? Does it have fresh gas? The carburetor has ports that it uses for air and the gasket needs to match those holes when reinstalled. If you flip the gasket it will block the holes and the engine will not run right. If you twist the throttle does the carb open all the way? Check to make sure your linkage is installed correctly with all the small springs. It can be easy to loose and forget the small springs. Honestly it’s hard to troubleshoot through words. I would suggest taking it apart and checking everything I suggested.

So, my throttle cable snapped. Right at the part, next to the rod, next to the pull. It looks like I'm missing the piece where the cable goes into, with the through screw. Do you know what the piece is called? Is that the throttle cable linkage?
@DIYWilly2 жыл бұрын
Hello Nate, Are you referring to the cable stop. The part that holds the cable? Thanks for watching!!
@nadimwood11752 жыл бұрын
It's V shaped. The cable on the right side and a sorting on the left, going to the throttle rod.
@DIYWilly2 жыл бұрын
@@nadimwood1175 on that engine you have a piece the cable attaches too and then a spring will go across to the governor arm. At the top of the governor arm will be a rod to the carburetor and another spring. You need the cable clamp on the first piece? Wish we could post pictures here.. Are these motorcycles street legal or i have to install headlights?
@DIYWilly3 жыл бұрын
I believe it depends on where you live. But yes it would need all the lights. I live in California and there is no way to make it street legal with out changing the engine to like a 125cc or similar that of a dirt bike. The 212’s are considered an industrial engine and not legal for the road. Darn EPA… I want to build my own frame and attempt to make it street legal. Great question and thanks for watching.

Hello, great video, I have a monster moto as well that I left in my garage for a year or so. Recently, I've been trying to fix it up but its not starting. Any suggestions?
@DIYWilly3 жыл бұрын
Take the carburetor apart and do a deep cleaning throughout including the jets. Hopefully the carburetor is not damaged beyond cleaning. There hard to find for replacement. Check the plug and maybe change the oil. And definitely clean out any old gas from the tank and lines. Also check gas line making sure it’s not cracked. Good luck and thanks for watching.

@@DIYWilly so I completely cleaned the carburetor but the bike still isn’t starting. We were looking at the throttle cable (the wire was fine but we were looking at the springs and other metal arms) and saw that it wasn’t working properly
@DIYWilly3 жыл бұрын
You’ll probably have to replace the carburetor. With out seeing what’s going on it’s hard to help diagnose problems. I used the Hilom carb from Amazon….www.Amazon.com/gp/product/B075R1J2B5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The only difference with that carb is the chock but if you can work past that it will work. Also I have read that it’s possible to bend down the fuel inlet on other 79cc carbs but I haven’t tried it yet. Hope this helps.

Your talking about the governor. On that engine that is what operates the throttle. Connect all the right first and try again.

@DIYWilly4 жыл бұрын
As you probably know it takes 4 things for an engine to run. 1. Compression 2. Air 3. Spark and 4. Fuel. So how long as it been since it ran and did it run good before. When you cleaned the carburetor did the needle valve work on the float? Did you remove and clean both the jet and e-tube? If you spray carb clean in the fuel fill where does it come out. I would go through the carb again and make sure all the tiny holes are clear. Next I would check compression by removing the spark plug and holding a finger against the hole and rotating the engine by hand to see if it boots out the hole. Next check spark by place the spark plug against the engine and again rotating it and looking for spark. Also make sure the air cleaner is clean. You should find the problem that way. Could be the carb is just wore out. I had to replace one of them in that video because it just didn’t work. The coil may have also failed. Just take your time and check it completely. You’ll find the problem. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I’m happy to help. Good luck
