MONSTER PINKERTON AVOCADO

My very first Pinkerton Avocado home grown in Lafayette, CA on a tree that struggled with the deer for many years. It finally grew above their reach and flushed out, flowered and heavily fruited yielding a batch of HUMONGOUS GINOURMOUS MONSTER avocados and Raea Gragg gets the first ceremonial taste of this incredible fruit. BUT AFTER LONG CONSIDERATION, I HAVE CONCLUDED THIS IS NOT PINKERTON. CERTAINLY NOT. IT IS EITHER DAILY 11 OR IT IS SOME OTHER UNKOWN THAT I GERMINATED YEARS AGO TO ONLY LOSE ALL INFO. IT DID NOT FRUIT FOR THE FIRST 7-8 YEARS MAINLY BECAUSE THE DEER TORMENTED IT. TOO MANY AVOCADOS TO KEEP TRACK OF. I NEED TO PUT IT SIDE BY SIDE WITH ANOTHER DAILY 11 FOR COMPARISON. MAYBE BY THE END OF MY LIFETIME I WILL FIGURE IT OUT. OR MAYBE NOT.

Hey Greg, there is a giant Avocado tree on big island hawaii that is worth making a video about. It's right next to a little cafe called "The Coffee Shack" in Captain Cook. I've never seen one that big.

I agree seed too large for a true pinkerton but shape is similar but with thicker neck and overall size perhaps should clone and call it pinkerton grande its a shame it doesnt have a tiny seed

Pinkerton skin is pebbly. This doesnt look like it.

Agreed. I don't know what it is, but I don't put it into the Pinkerton category. It seemed that it was picked a bit early - maybe a couple months: the skin seemed shriveled, the interior (meat ) gave me the impression being early, but Raea's comment of "rubbery" definitely was the nail in the coffin for too early.

Interesting. I am also growing Pinkerton on the delta. Mine are also long and pebbly, shaped like a club which seems rather different from the store bought ones. Makes me think that here in the bay area this variety takes a slightly different appearance. Of course it could be a Daily 11 or a unique variety but your description of the flavor and everything else except for the size would match up with my own, including the seed size. Mine don't get as big but if I let them hang for as long as possible perhaps they would.

Pinkerton has small seed. That seed is too big to be a Pinkerton. Fruit also turn slightly black when ripe. I think that fruit is the "Big Mup" sister

Interesting. I'm thinking it is not Pinkerton either. This plant was in the ground for over 10 years before fruiting so it may be a seedling that final reached maturity and therefore would be a new cultivar. I will have to watch it closer to see what it does.
