George Farmer Simply Stunning! Small fish in a big tank? Amazing! Just a question do plants in an aquarium prefer warmer water? Because for tropical fish it’s warmer water other than cold water am I right? Do you suggest aquarium heaters and do you use one on your planted tank? Cheers 🥂

Very interesting indeed, I like small fish big tanks - looks kind in contrast to say elephants in a compound in the zoo. Also fish shoal, escape bullying etc. Really good George, educational without forgetting that we are hobbyists. Much appreciated.

Oh, and as far as small fish in big tanks... I love all fish. But I must confess that I love the freshwater "tank busters" lol! I once had two 55 gallon tanks and in one had some beautiful biggies - a green terror cichlid, a fire-mouth cichlid (not too big), a leporinus (beautiful fish) and a large tin-foil barb. The green terror ("Ghoulie") was so pretty and so responsive. He was like a dog. I had a friend hold some tubifex worms at the top of the water and when Ghoulie went for them my friend jumped about a foot! Aquariums - even small, simple ones - are so relaxing. It's fascinating to watch an underwater world.

Im a big fan of the big tank/tiny fish combo. Especially with a beast like this tank theres really opportunity for seing not only individual fish but whole 100+ schools interacting with eachother and their environment.

Another absolutely amazing video George. Amazing message about educating people on our planet and climate. Thats is something I think every person should be passionate about. I cant believe how much this scape/biotope has grown in! It's interesting to see some plants I would consider to be "large" but they are dwarfed in such a massive tank. It adds a different mix of textures and scales, you guys have done an incredible job! That new plant looks like a cross between a bucaphelandra wavy green and anubias nana petite, so beautiful! Cant thank you enough for everything you do George! Keep on Scapin! (and inspiring people!)

Wow - that's an incredible aquascape, love how natural it looks! I think the small livestock really helps with that - makes it feel like a window into an actual environment. Larger fish would make it feel a bit more contrived and make it more about the fish than the biotope. Thanks for sharing George!

It’s a gorgeous tank. The fish choice is wonderful. I love big schools of small fish. I also like that he wants to add a fish that isn’t seen in the hobby often (forgot the species he mentioned). The 55 gallon I am setting up now is going to house large schools of nano fish.

I'd love to see a growout update on this. I like the idea of using nano fish, but I'd use way more of them. I find it laborious to make sure they're all fed in a 120 gal. I couldn't imagine the feeding routine for such tiny fish in a tank this size.

I love tiny fish in a big tank! It seems so much more natural cuz it's like a slice of the pond or river they are in. They won't be stunted and they will have plenty of swimming room and territory. When I get my fish room I've been thinking of sticking to nano fish, dwarf frogs, and small crustaceans in tanks ranging from 10 to 90 gallons... the only exception is maybe cichlids and plecos in one or two aquariums, but I want 75% of my stock to be three inches and under, and most of them in the bigger tanks. Only thing is I need to get my own house first, but I've been planning my future fish room for the better part of a year now :P

Just got a 100 gallon tank and the main fish will be Corydoras with lots of small tetras. Currently H. elachys and H. amandae which both don't get much bigger than 1 inch or so. Eventually may put in some schools of cardinals and green neons but nothing bigger. Big fish are fine but I prefer large schools of small fish.

Looks amazing George. This style of layout is a bit off the ones I am used to make or even follow as inspiration. But I do love how natural this one looks, it really feels like something you can find underwater in nature, as opposed to all the layouts we currently see Today. I am almost tempted to have a go at create something inspired by this at home. When I did my blog about florestas submersas years ago I asked if there would be someone willing to follow in their Steps,at the time i saw no one stepping up to the plate. But this and the zen layout in tenerife are now proof that large planted aquariums are still possible in a post-Amano world.
