The reason is because it is a shell called melo mello and is insanely strong due to predators like murex snails, which can drill holes in the shell. Almost all shells are not delicate, they are not like glass at all and some can survive being thrown of 3 story houses, (tried by me 😂😂)

Never eaten a 🐌 before, but the way she prepared it.. I'm game.
The sea depths had been my sanctuary for as long as I could remember, a world of tranquil darkness where I glided gracefully through the cool waters. But one fateful day, my world turned into a nightmare, and I found myself ensnared by a net, pulled up to the surface, and gasping for breath. As I lay helpless on the deck of the fishing boat, my luminous, otherworldly body quivered with fear. The humans, with their strange tools and excited chatter, surrounded me. They had captured a monster from the deep, they exclaimed, a rare and exotic prize. I watched with dread as they transported me to a bustling city, where the salty breeze was replaced by the scent of fried food and smoky grills. They placed me in a glass tank in a small, dimly lit restaurant. I had gone from the depths of the ocean to a cage of clear glass, my once majestic form reduced to a curious spectacle. But the true horror began when I saw the chef, a man with a sinister smile and eyes that gleamed with an unsettling hunger. He approached my tank, a glinting knife in hand, and I knew my fate was sealed. My gelatinous body trembled as he reached in and plucked me from the water. As he expertly sliced thin slivers from my delicate flesh, I could feel every excruciating cut. The world around me blurred as I gasped for air, my existence reduced to a cruel spectacle of suffering. The chef's skilled hands turned me into a masterpiece of sashimi, arranged meticulously on a plate adorned with garnishes. Diners in the restaurant marveled at the exquisite dish before them, unaware of the agony I had endured. My consciousness waned as my final moments approached. I wished for the darkness of the ocean to envelop me once more, to escape this torment. In the end, I was devoured, my tender flesh savored by those who knew nothing of the creature they were consuming. As I faded into oblivion, I could only hope that my kindred spirits in the depths of the sea would remain safe from the clutches of those who saw us as nothing more than monstrous delicacies, forever ignorant of the horrors we endured.
