I take both spirulina and chlorella but this comment has a few problems the main one being the sentence "if you search you will see". Medical professionals do not base their comments of Google searches of health vlogs. They are giving a professional opinion and unless their comment can be backed up by large scale random controlled trials or meta-analysis then you shouldn't be making a comment as a professional. By research studies I do not mean some trial that studied 10-50 people, it is the breadth of research and the overall consensus. Hunting a picking does not count.
@artisticmike2 жыл бұрын
@@Stephend005 Just because you may only use google to search does not mean that is what I meant when I said search. Though google pulls up some good articles as well. I search medical journals, pubmed and ncbi. There are many articles there that speak of the studied benefits of spirulina. This doctor said in so many words that spirulina is basically useless, and I don't think any study shows that to be true. So whether or not there are many studies that meet all of your requirements, he was still talking out of place. He could have said it is Unknown as to whether or not it has these benefits. But even if he did have a study meeting your requirements proving it is useless, large studies are often funded by pharmaceutical companies, which have no interest proving a cheap(relative to their meds) herb can heal or greatly benefit people. I don't fault him for not claiming spirulina has wonderful benefits, rather for suggesting that does not have much of any benefit.
@Stephend0052 жыл бұрын
@@artisticmike the trouble you’re going to run into here with the assumptions you have made about me is you do not know anything about me. You don’t know that I am a qualified and registered health care professional who reads peer reviewed journals everyday since my work has subscriptions to basically all of them. We also have weekly journal club meetings where we all discuss as a group different research we have found and critique it for conflicts of interest and methodologies. I personally like these supplements and take both spirulina and chlorella, but more broadly I have a huge problem with people cherry picking their research. Just being able to find something that supports your view isn’t good enough. It’s the consensus across that board that is important across all the research that meets a good standard. EDIT- not saying you are doing that, but the wording in your original comment implied it. Either way cheers to good health friend.

“There’s no difference between natural or synthetic…” Hilarious! In that one sentence this chemist demonstrates he has no idea what the words nutrition and natural mean. Of course all molecules are the same! But nutrition is all about how molecules work TOGETHER within nature to produce their effects! You can change ONE atom of a molecule and you’ll get a completely different molecule producing drastically different results. Plus, there is no logical way to know, before you observe them, exactly how two molecules or compounds are going to react together or that might happen in an impurity is accidentally introduced. That’s what makes nutrition do hard to figure out. It’s astounding a man with a Ph.D can be so ignorant. The problem is he thinks having a Ph.D in one subject makes him an expert in two others: nutrition and medicine. This is a clear demonstration of the arrogance of modern scientistry (science as a profession); that they believe if you tear something apart and separate all its parts from one another you can understand how the whole works together. That’s nonsense. All of nature is a SYSTEM, as fine-tuned of the universe at the moment of the Big Bang. Nutrition perhaps even more so! I don’t know what the truth is about spirulina. But the one thing I do know is, he is wrong.

Look for ones from the 1980's and later if concerned, 2) phenylpropanolamine (PPA) has a risk of hemorrhagic stroke- FDA. 3) Side effects are symptoms of what may be a more serious problem. listen to what he said just after... its spot on the truth. "the ancestry of a molecule does not determine its safety" . A chemical is a chemical is a chemical, it does not matter one iota whether or not that chemical is natural or artificial, it matters only how it interacts with our biology.
@IsInstantLife2 жыл бұрын
This guy makes twists the arm of science. It's true it doesn't matter the origin of a compound but here he is comparing different compounds, phycocyanin is actually a protein, which we can digest and break down and has a lot of potential beneficial effects. There is no synthetic phycocyanin, we don't make proteins in a lab such a thing is very very difficult to do, we rely on biological systems to make phycocyanin. Most blue food dyes are smaller organic molecules (organic meaning containing carbon) these compounds are man made and therefore no biological system in history has ever had to deal with them. We don't know what effects these compounds will have on human health in the long term, these small compounds are more akin to the signalling compounds in our bodies like hormones, which who know what receptors they are binding to and interacting with.

Dude seriously what’s your agenda are you really that ignorant, hayfever?! Sinus rinse- what did you eat before the hayfever attack happened etc... don’t leave your well being up to someone just because they have a certificate framed on their wall, there have been great improvements medically BUT!!! Your health is your responsibility, many people die from prescribes meds , one med leads to another each one does damage to the human body, educate yourself your worth it, Pray to GOD Almighty to direct you one door will lead to another with education on nutrients like selenium, magnesium and many others what does your body need and how do you use the nutrient does it need another nutrient to work in conjunction with it

I completely agree with you, but we have been conditioned to not worry about our own health and just ask your doctor for the answer to all ills, most people want to live any old way, (life's for enjoyment attitude, you only live once etc.) yes its vital we do our own research.

Thank you for creating this informative video. I have been considering growing spirulina on my own, but have been worried about the purity of the culture (which I have no way to verify on my own). My second concern is the nutrients that need to be added to the solution regularly. Specifically the list below. NaCl CaCl2.2H2O KNO3 NaNO3 FeSO4 EDTA (Na) K2SO4 MgSO4・7H2O NaHCO3 K2HPO4 A5 micronutrient (H3BO3, MnCl2.4H2O, ZnSO4.4H2O Na2MoO4,CuSO4.5H2O)
