@rhiannonm8132Күн бұрын
@@ΣτελιοςΠεππαςnah, it just shows you’re not only valuing her for her appearance as that’s how women have been seen for so long. it’s rare to compliment a man on his appearance, usually you compliment his intellect or something. but it’s common to let a woman’s appearance override everything else she does or let it impact how you see her accomplishments/what she’s saying. a comments section full of people talking about how she looks instead of the science she’s passionate about would be unfortunate no? but that’s the reality a lot of times. or at least it was. that’s the unfortunate part, not the apologizing, which is just showing empathy and an understanding of what women experience.

i would never. EVER suspect that hippos were nocturnal animals '-'
@worldoffood12312 күн бұрын
That was a shock to me too! The footage we see is always during the day, but I guess that's probably just cuz it's hard to film at night.
@lachouette_et_le_phoque12 күн бұрын
I was confused by that, because often nocturnal animals avoid daytime predators, but surely that can't be the case for hippos. I looked it up and as far as I understand, they have to be active at night because their skin dries out in the sun quickly and the sunscreen is helpful, but not enough to avoid that and overheating, so they are bound to the water during the day. It did also say that they had periods of activity during the day in the water, so that's why it's not too hard to find footage.

It is insane of how quickly this little creature became an Internet sensation overnight just some moments after it was born. I recall you talking about what the Colombian government plans to deal with the invasive hippos since the local people made a living out of their very existence after Escobar’s demise. Personally, I would’ve either captured them all and placed them in a zoo, relocate them to certain areas in the African continent where their numbers can climb or put them down. I despise the 3rd option but the only way to stop this problem once and for all is if they were no longer there. Whatever the decision is, they better make it fast because if these animals turn for some reason and cause harm to the locals, that’s on them for not taking evasive action and complete negligence.
