@@FandersonUfo You've done a great job. Really gripping and gives a sense of how SHADO Moon Base took on the aliens. They could've really made a sequence like this, featuring an astronaut out on the Moon at the same time as the interceptors are going up, to stop a UFO after the ground defense vehicles have been wiped out. Would've been a strong sequence. Only they could've used Foster as the man who goes out with the rocket launcher. (Surviving, unlike Roper). When the guy with the hand held rocket launcher fired the first rocket the laucher recoiled, knocking him back, but it was a venturi weapon so would have no recoil as the back is hollow allowing the back blast to just flow out without resistance. The intercepters seem to be taking the scenic route to get to the UFO. It was only 20 miles at it's sighting so they must have been miles away from Moonbase when they launched even though they slide down tubes from MB to get to their craft, presumably under the base.

Ellis/G. Drake, of course. Yes I remember especially the episode I mentioned earlier, 'Timelash' (not Eyelash ... what a blunder!! ;-) ;-) it was in certain way even thrilling and agonizing - but a touch of optimism and hope came from Lake's ash-blonde hair and her matching-colours setup (dress + eyes!!). Although clear creative liberties with accuracy of science and stuff, I love the hard science fiction feel to UFO. Especially the military procedure and work ethic, whereas a lot of science fiction has stubborn adventurous guys who refuse orders all the time, these pilots rarely refuse an order except if its Foster or they're being influenced by a UFO. The strategies as well, with the layered defence frontline not only for Earth but for Moonbase. Radar reports sightings, Interceptors are launched and artillery vehicles are deployed to ensure effective enfilading fire (if im using the term correctly), there is real tactics being applied, not just ragtag hotshots in spaceships (although both are cool, it is interesting to see the more strategical science fiction).

This show is now used as the recruiting advertisement for the Space Force. Plus, with the purple hair moon hotties I mean who wouldn't want to be GI Joe Space Force.

It's a good thing that the Aliens went to Stormtrooper marksmanship academy , otherwise Moonbase would have been in big trouble.

Even as a kid back in 1972, I thought Moonbase was too small and the landing pad on top of it seemed to be an invitation to disaster.

that guy who splashed that last UFO with the surface to air ordinance should get a serious promotion and a pay raise. Also quite weird seeing Uhura with purple hair.

I remember watching UFO at age 11, about 1972, never knew the Moon gals were purple haired: our TV was B/W.

I'm sure it's a bit of a surprise. We had colour when it was broadcast in the late 70's. It's a pretty strong choice artistically I'll grant.

I wonder if that is actually set up somewhere. Like a fire hall, ambulance dispatch or even a an airbase somewhere. Someone must have done it for real to get people in position quickly in some scenario.

@@FandersonUfo The quick launch teams sit in their aircraft till their shift is done. The B-1 bomber has the ignition button outside the aircraft so that the aircraft is ready to go when the people get inside.

They were purple wigs even in the show. In one of the first episodes the moon base commander, featured in this video, came to Earth and her hair was long and brown.

This must have been a British show, I have never heard of it. Space 1999 was similar I imagine and I watched a lot of that as a kid at 15
@cindydott4522 жыл бұрын
Space 1999 was created by the same people. It was actually supposed to be the second season for UFO, but got retooled into a separate show.

Used to LOVE this Show when I was a kid. Even though I wonderd how they had obvious 1g effects in a .6g environment. or WHY they wouldn't build the base underground IF they were expecting Combat. They Obviously had the Interceptors underground Why not the Whole Base then?

@NDAvfxtv5 жыл бұрын
@@kelvinh8327 Don't forget this was made before the first moon landing so footage of movement on the moon was non existent at the time. Also the Purple wigs were intended to be anti-static and the silver? Century 21 fashions designed by Sylvia Anderson. I think they were hoping to sell a LOT to fashion people.
