If i remember correctly my school history lessons (damn im old), Egyptians travel the after life on a boat. When he get shot, he went to the sky, not drowned. We can also see the corridor shifting, kinda like in a boat. I think what we see is some kind of life review, before reaching the sacred lands, to judge him. Starting with his birth, with the presence of the god of birth. They might even be in the overvoid, mentioned last episode. My guess is that the gods will bring him back to life, cause they see that Arthur do be evil and they need someone to save their asses from Gorr, going in a rampage

Yeah, an absolutely adorable hippo showed up. And the director said the last 2 were going to be crazy. The scenes with Marc/Steven and Layla are so so good. Just layla's heartbreak when it comes to Marc and her amusement and growing affection for Steven is so good to watch.

So two possibilities, 1) Marc was in a psyche ward and imagine the entire story that we saw in the first 3 episodes or 2) He just got shot and he is dying and he stuck in purgatory about to be judge for the after-life ( major clue is the hippo is the goddess Taweret that prepare the person to be judged Anbus and possibly punished by being devoured by Ammitt) lol. This was a bold way to end this episode as it will confuse and cause you to question everything that you have seen so far.

It's not purgatory, it could be the overvoid. Overvoid is the pocket reality where every "medical staff" are egypitan gods and/or goddesses (in Marvel) hence we saw Taweret (hippo) in the end.

I loved this episode, it was so crazy and amazingly well done. I'm sorry for the people who had to watch these 4th episode before anyone else and wait A MONTH to watch the 5th. I know that lady hippo is a goddess, I can't remember her name or what she stands for but maybe the will need to free that 3rd personality in order to free themselves. I also loved that they play with us by thinking this was all in his mind.

Egyptian mythology has a lot of water and boat imagery in it. The sky is a sea that the barge of the sun sails across, and the flood cycle of the Nile represents death and rebirth. When Marc came into the corridor where the lamps were swinging from side to side, I think it was meant to suggest he's on the barge sailing to the afterlife, but he's not dead *yet*.

I absolutely love the Indiana Jones/Uncharted/Tomb Raider inspired scenes in the crypt. I don’t care how old you are, you never really out grow the allure of uncovering the mysteries of ancient ruins. But I’m really hoping that this show doesn’t do the whole “You’re actually insane and the villain is trying help you, but in reality it’s an illusion and the villain is just trying to get something from you” trope. And from the look of the Egyptian goddess of fertility Taweret showing up at the end I hope it does something new.

OK so remember the panther god in black panther bast is based on the Egyptian god and we’ve had mentioned to this connects the black panther in that way. Bast is based on real life mythology Bastet. Bastet was given the heart of ra. Funny enough wakanda had a heart shaped herb. Marc is Khonshu avatar so in a way since the black panther got his power from bast is he like her avatar. The asgardians are gods and we have seen a transfer of power from thor to steve Rogers however it be by a Thor’s hammer. THat brings me to relics of dr strange where they use weapons of higher beings to channel energy and power. Also a lot of this is based on Egyptian mythology which is In Africa another obvious connection to panther. Bastet is a direct child of ra and also his protector.

Confirmed...Geonosians are officially now in the MCU, LOL! I think it would've been "better" to just end the episode with Marc trying to escape the asylum and keep us guessing if everything up to now was imagined. With him meeting up with Steven and seeing all those sarcophagi, that's gotta be hinting that all that is not real, right? It reminded me of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode that made you wonder if all her slaying was real or imagined in her head.

The asylum is definitely real. It in the comics. It's a mystical asylum that is used to help sort out patients that are suffering from d.i.d to sort out their personalities. In the comics this asylum is run by the goddess Amit who is the main villain of this show. It looks like tawaret the hippo goddess we saw is gonna try and free him.

My theory is that Layla in an attempt to save Steven/Marc, will release ammit. Maybe that's how he heals unless Harrow has the statue of konshu on him right now which Layla has to retrieve. I guess when ammit possesses Marc/steven, they will have to fight it internally.

Harrow never had the Khonshu statue. That is show in the opening being put in the wall with all the other imprisoned gods. The statue in Alexander was Ammits as he was her last vessel. Harrow might presumably have that now after shooting Mark.

It's the first time I heard Steven say "..royal symbol, protection in the afterlife". I missed that before. So maybe he has protection in the afterlife, and that whole white mental asylum is actually the afterlife, but because he has protection, Taweret comes looking for them.

As someone who has had experiences similar to what Marc saw and has lived my life with night terrors and disassociative issues I’ll explain it how I’ve learned to interpret things like that. Or at least try 😭 just speaking from experience and coping mechanisms So all of the visions that Marc or Steven sees is a trigger of his subconscious getting a grip on reality. Any time I’ve had an episode or experience like that I’ve noticed that it’s almost like your brain just processing so fast that it almost makes shit up just to make sense of the data it takes in kind of like a dream. So After Marc got shot he probably fell unconscious and was being brought to be a hostage with Arthur.. 🤟🏽 that’s why you hear Layla saying “we won” as if to reassure his unconscious body that they found the tomb and can win Khonshu back and stop Arthur. After a while when they’re in the office Arthur interrogates Marc and he slowly starts to deciphers what’s real and what’s not by spotting outlying objects and similar themes to prove to himself that it’s all in his head and by doing so he remembers where he is isn’t what he’s seeing. So as he starts to regain his cognition he runs away and starts to regain Steven and almost Jake because his mind is no longer in “survivability mode” and he can think straight. He’s then able to communicate the aspects of his personality again and then he meets the hippo. 😂😂 The Hippo is the goddess of life, fertility, and health. So I assume either Layla got chosen as her avatar and saved him or the goddess was wanting to help stop Ammit and made Marc her avatar just to save him. And most likely the next episode he’ll snap back into seeing things normal and will be captive still or he’ll break free and he was in his head long enough that Arthur got to Ammit. I love y’all’s videos btw. Keep it up lmao

I think the little girl in the first episode was the avatar of taweret. That is why she asked "did it suck going through the field of reeds". She probably saw that he had died before when Marc got shot in Egypt. Konshu took the opportunity and pulled him out of the field before he could finish his journey preventing his transition into the afterlife. Maybe this caused him to get D.I.D because it most comonly formes when someone has suffered a trauma. An alter is born to protect themselves from further harm. Thus Steven appeared. I think the same happened when he got wacked in the head at the market. He needed to protect himself and so his 3rd alter was born, Jake lockley.

I am wondering where they are going to go with the death of Layla's father, cause in the comics it was a fellow merc named Bushman who killed her father, but here Mark only says that it was a "partner" of his. Given a lot of the creative liberties this show has taken, I do wonder if the third personality might actually be revealed as being responsible for the act...Maybe going out on a limb on that one, but it's a theory.

My theory is that Steven/Mark/Jake(?) has entered an afterlife, and Taweret has manifest to help him (them) find balance. That balance will be needed to get back to the mortal world, and enable him (them) to free Konshu, and perhaps the other gods.

I honestly have no theories for this show anymore. It’s so different and so intriguing that I’m just holding on to my seat and enjoying the ride without trying to figure out what is going to happen and what it all means. They’ve done such a good job of explaining what’s happening through the show up to this point, that even though I’m a bit confused and in the dark what’s going on, I have complete faith in the film makers at this point that it’s all going to be explained in a truly satisfying way. Meanwhile I’m just sitting here and marveling at the masterclass in acting, cinematography, storytelling and overall film design that’s unrolling in front of my eyes. The fun in most of marvel’s previous shows has been in speculating what’s going on and how it all fits into the MCU as a whole, but this show is so different that frankly I don’t even care how it fits into the big picture and am just enjoying it for what it is.

those creepy clicking noises 😱 in the tomb are because the guards had their tongues and eyes taken out for the mummification process - so, the clicking is a form of echolocation which lets them see where things are. i don’t like that sound either 😂😭

At first I thought this means that everything that happened till now was just in Marc's head, and this asylum is the reality and he used all the inamtes to form people we saw till now but the ending with Taweret clearly means he's in the in between life and death and Taweret is gonna save Marc from the bullet shot and possibly bring him back to life.
