"Calling Card" was produced by Roger Glover... I think Rory clearly inspired some Rainbow's songs with this album.

Never appreciated and underrated in the States, shame. Absolute legend in Europe, his appearances on Rockblast and Montraux ( apologies for misspelling) have earned him that status alone. Rest in peace Rory and thank you for your music.

Tasteful (no pun) use of pinch harmonics (Zakk take note) and only tiny nods to EVH - this man had class. So happy to have seen him live in this era. RIP master.

Gerry and Brendan make this song come alive. The bass is turned up and kicking ass at just the right moments,--Brendan keeps it moving without sinking into metal cliche. Rory just sits on top of it all and makes magic. Love it!

Rory played with a 4 piece band (Gerry Mcavoy, Bass, Lou Martin, Keyboards and Rod De'Ath, Drums) until late 1977. Their last performance together was at The Hammersmith Odeon after which Lou and Rod left the band. Rory then recruited Ted Mckenna on drums and they became a power trio and it was this line up that recorded the re-worked Photo Finish Album in the summer of 1978.

Wow, that is stunning! I l am an old guy who has listened to rock music for a long time but had never heard of Rory Gallagher until I saw his name mentioned (many times) on other sites where I was watching other guitarists like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Winter. I figured I should go see what he was about. His playing and feel for the song is just fantastic! The bass player is in such synchrony with him and is terrific in his own rite. That beat up Stratocaster reminds me of Stevie Ray's guitar! I agree with this quote I saw about him...."the best guitarist you never heard of". Glad I finally got to listen.

I see a lot of similarities between Rory and Gerry with Pat Travers and Mars Cowling and Frank Marino with Paul Harwood, too. With all three examples, it was as though the guitar and bass were the same instrument, an infrequent occurrence.
