about Dissociative Identity Disorder (very different than schizophrénia) - each alter/identify has different story, speech patterns, and act differently in the same environment (like you can see in the show) - dissociative amnesia is one of the most important criteria (losing hours, days, or even weeks sometimes) (so steven can't remember if marc is taking control for example) - this mental health condition is commonly caused by trauma in a form of detachment/protection from it. -one alters tend to be the host "the body" in this case that’s probably Marc. sometimes alters are fighting to take control, sometimes it can be more fluid. -co-consciousness is when you switch alters without the amnesia

Marc is definitely in consciousness everytime even though Steven is there but when Steven is wake up, only Steven is in control not Marc. But when Marc is in control, Steven is not even in consciousness and control. From what i've seen in Ep 1. That is why Khonsu speak to Marc to force take full control of his body, because Marc is there, just not in control. Steven don't even know that Marc is there, but Marc know Steven is there.

I won't spoil comics stuff, but as for the "bird thing", the Egyptology aspect of this show is important in a bigger way than just Steven's interest. The little girl's line about him being dead could also be potentially important. That's my own personal speculation, this show has done things quite different from the comics, but that line seemed pointed.

I think girl just wanted to be edgy and kinda bullied Steven so I doubt she actually knows about all whats happening, but at the same time Stevens response is important because he sounded so unsure about him being dead or not

@penguin0912 Well if the girl was a little creepier and perhaps disappeared from sight or something and did the "Batman vanish" Like the little kid in final fantasy 10 that you see when the town is being destroyed by Sin when time stops, It would be more fitting and that theory would be more obvious. But I thought she was some kind of omen at 1st and was connected to the plot.

Steven doesn’t know that he has the other personalities, in the beginning he just thinks he sleepwalks, so the sand and the ankle strap are to track if he gets up. Only the audience knows he switches in and out of being Steven...

As others have mentioned, Moon Knight does *_not_* have schizophrenia. He has DID (Disassociative Identity Disorder, formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder). He has another consciousness in him, an alternate identity (or alter).

I'm really liking the mystical occult vibe of this show, especially with the music. I'm looking forward to Blade and what comes next. I really hope they don't try to ground it within the MCU too much by constantly referencing New York or the blip because that kinda ruined the charm of the other Marvel shows for me. That and the rushed writing. I get that they exist to interlink the canon but I'd rather they just treat these shows as a jumping off point into something new.

In the elevator, my interpretation is that he's scared to the point he falls unconscious, then Marc takes control. In the bus, on the way to work, Marc then releases control and Steven wakes up. I'd say there are 3 ways another personality can take over: Sleeping, giving up control, and losing consciousness.

lots of folks saying that d.i.d and schizophrenia is not the same, and that's true! however, that doesn't mean that moon knight *doesn't* have schizophrenia. although it's never explicitly mentioned, it is implied in the comics a lot based on the fact that he does have also have intense visual and auditorial hallucinations. not sure if this'll be explored in the show or if everything he's "seeing" (khonshu/old lady in the hall, marc in the mirror, etc) will be chalked up to magic.

The third personalities name is Jake and he is a cab driver. I personally think that Jake is the one who asked out the door guide. Because she would have question Mark having a American accent. I'm also seeing people wonder if the key Stephen found was for Jake's cab

its only two at the moment steven & marc eventually there's going to be 3 personalities. marc is the one that's being used by konsu which is the moon god which makes marc the avatar for moonknight so there one of the same. third one is going to be Mr. knight. in the comics there are way more personalities there only going to do 3 for now which probably works best. there's another version of him where his a taxi driver in new york so maybe he eventually end up there too

@@megasauruss well in the comics, marc spector was a normal mercenary until Khonshu resurrected him and made a God to man connection with his brain which caused physical changes in his brain fracturing his mind creating different personalities. Marc also is seen to have a small control of the personalities unlike the real world disorder.

Steven Grant, Jake Lockley and Marc Spector are all one. The Booming voice we heard in the background is Khonshu, the Egyptian god of Vengeance. Marc is the actual person with the past, we see that proven true in this episode with his phone and Layla. Steven and Jake are persona's inside marc's head. Steven also seems to be Marc's go to when his body needs to heal. Anyway, this episode shows Steven is leaving voicemail messages to a mother that doesn't exist, she can't, as he isn't real. We have heard Jake yet, but he was with Marc in the reflection--he was the silent reflection doing as Marc did. I don't know the comic story all that well, but like everything in the MCU, this is quite different. Steven looks to be Marc's cover and he's perfect. We see with the people around Steven that he's a very forgettable guy. Save for Donna, his supervisor, no one remembers his name. Steven blends in, and it helps that no one remembers him, lol. That's the perfect cover for a guy that sort of stands out. I really enjoyed this first episode. I hope they're able to keep up this level of excite going forward. What a first episode!
