I just want to say an _extremely_ well-done review video by you two (I don't say "extremely" lightly, top 2% or so). The camera work, pace of speech, amount of content, speaking/music mix, editing are all the best of any vehicle review video I've seen, if not any product review outright. Everything pieces together so smooth to make 30 minutes feel like 10. There are other good reviewers but this stands out. I particularly like the audio demo at 14:04 combined with the gradual lookaround, it felt like it was a soundtrack/montage. Also liked the table-of-contents thing at the beginning, though I was surprised you didn't directly reuse it when switching sections (the title at the bottom is different). I do something similar on powerpoint presentations, since context and location are important. Also impressed with how you guys manage to say so much, so accurately without tripping up or missing vital info. Great scripting, lots of prep and practice, or brotherly chemistry from years of doing this I don't know which, but it just flows. If I had to nitpick I'd say zoom a third(?) camera close up on the dashboard for the acceleration test. This is the first Car Confections video I've seen but will be by no means the last. Rock on brothas I'll be back

This has to be the most bold and striking design of any modern vehicles since the 2000’s. Its not even ugly, its just VERY distinct and different. Definitely something Cadillac had to make a second guess on. This is different even for Cadillac. At least it isn’t egg shaped like the model Y but it has some character to it.
@alanbuck9237 Жыл бұрын
When talking about range though, people need to remember that highway road trip range will not be anywhere close to the estimates given. Those take a lot more slow driving into account. I believe one of the magazines just tested the all wheel drive and it only came out at about 220 miles of range at 75 miles per hour.

@neilforker84 Жыл бұрын
Well this is a step up for Caddy. There's a couple of minor design fails, in my opinion. The aircon control surround just isn't right. They should have squared it off. Too many angles I think just to be different. The other thing is the charge port door. Why in the heck did they have it open downwards when that's where the handle and cord are when plugged in? Should have opened upwards. Lastly is for all EVs: I just can't get excited with the current state of range. In an ICE, if you say 300 mile range when full, it's just around that. On EVs, that could mean 200 miles, depending on so many different conditions. And you don't know until you're well into your trip. And it's not a quick 5-10 minute fill-up, which would get you 100% range in an ICE but the same time would get you some fraction in an EV. If you want parity with ICE, then you HAVE to make EVs as convenient, and with today's tech that would mean 400+ mile range, and really it should be closer to 600, especially if you're on a road trip and dependent on charging stations that don't work, are in use, or essentially cost almost as much as gasoline per mile. Have you been on a trip and waited in some crappy location while your EV charges for the next hour or more? BTW, I have an EV, so I'm not just some EV luddite making dumb anti-EV comments.
@TotallyJoel Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately those range numbers are only going to be available on really expensive heavy cars. Whats more important is the charging/ charging curve and the charging infrastructure. Tesla vehicles have 300 miles of range and they do just fine.
@neilforker84 Жыл бұрын
@@TotallyJoel then we need to quit rationizing all the faults of EVs and admit they're not ready for primetime. Charging infrastructure is abysmal and expensive. Only home charging approaches economic feasibility, and with the installed cost, even that doesn't make EVs pay back in a reasonable timeframe
@rsewill12 Жыл бұрын
@@neilforker84 It’s not all about payback. Except for range, the EV is just a better consumer vehicle. The main issue I have with mine is the need to buy new tires too often but that is mainly due to my heavy foot and the EV torque.

Nice review of a very nice EV. This vehicle is going to be an "order to purchase" car for a while to come. Perhaps that is the way of new car retailing in the future. So, grinding the price over an inventory item won't be there. I like the idea of choosing just the options you want. And then there is the resale market for the Lyriq a year or so down the road. So far, dealers are wanting to balloon the price just because they can.

If Cadillac could actually produce these and in volume, it is clearly the best electric SUV on the market hands down. I mean a Model Y looks like the cheapest rental you could get in comparison.
@G-Rated Жыл бұрын
So there’s a backstory to that. The Cadillac Lyriq actually debuted 9 months ahead of schedule. The response was massive and Cadillac had to revisit the conversation of scale to largely increase production to fit the new demand. If “too much demand” was a thing, it’d be the _Lyriq._ Releasing the RWD only debut model only sparked more interest and reservations for the AWD variants scheduled for 2024. With delays due to a pandemic, part scarcities and other issues due to an ongoing war, amongst other delays Cadillac had to face - orders had to be pushed back to the following model year which was *gm’s* original plan anyway. So this Lyriq technically isn’t “behind” production.

That's not bad, but solid state battery technology is a few more years away. Probably by 2030. 250mi in 15 minutes. They contain no liquid, better in handling the cold and much less risk of fire. That's the batteries I'm waiting for. Then EVs are worth the wait. Ultium just can't do that.

Love Caddy's first mass-EV effort. The ELR really doesn't count since it was closely related to the Volt. The interior and return to the vaunted Cadillac comfort are welcome upgrades to the brand, which list its way on most of products. The styling is mostly there, but the rear styling remains polarizing. Looks like two teams designed the same area. But overall, this vehicle(as well as the Celestiq) proves all along thst GM had the abilities, but lazily refused to produce top tier vehicles.
@TheJustinFlowers Жыл бұрын
Love or hate the rear, the ass is gonna age poorly
@G-Rated Жыл бұрын
The rear design is certainly cohesive, not sure where you’re getting _two separate design teams_ from. The rear turn signals _are_ also sequential like the front but I get it, y’all are desperate in finding something wrong with this vehicle’s execution. Anyone that ever doubted GM could produce a top tier luxury vehicle wasn’t very familiar with the company. It was never a matter of their ability, execution and price point had to *also* be impressive and the Ultium platform has allowed for that. The Cadillac Lyriq’s design isn’t just impressive, it’s performance, driving dynamics, and price are all impressive too. _Cadillac_ has left it’s American counterparts behind and in the dust!
@hellkitty1014 Жыл бұрын
@@G-Rated Cadillac has been largely absent from top-tier luxury conversations for over 3 decades now. Sure, their V-Series performance sedans are the business, but the brand overall hasn't been considered the "Standard of the World" for quite some time. Only the faithful of the brand would say otherwise. And if you call the rear end of this "cohesive"....eh, we can't have a truthful conversation.
@G-Rated Жыл бұрын
@@hellkitty1014 No sir, Chrysler, Lincoln, Acura, Infiniti, Mazda, and Jeep have been absent from top tier luxury conversations for decades *and still are.* The Cadillac Escalade in the other hand (which has dominated it’s segment for nearly 30 years) would beg to differ and if you can’t even bring yourself to admit that then you’re the one not being truthful. Not to mention Cadillac’s performance division _V-series_ which put the germans on notice back in 2012. Don’t ever get Cadillac confused with Jeep again, a brand that’s not a luxury brand but desperately wants to be. Cadillac is the reason everyone from KIA, to Jeep, to Range Rover wants to produce their own rendition of an Escalade today. Unlike Stellantis, Ford, or Tesla, *gm* actually has always boasted the capability as they’ve always had the network, engineers and designers to produce vehicles of the Lyriq and Celestiq’s caliber. Anyone truly familiar with this cooperation is fully aware of the cooperation’s capability. There’s a reason Honda wants GM to build their first EVs. This Cadillac Lyriq _is_ the standard of the world for it’s class. Name another EV offering better luxury, performance, space and technology for the same money or less? You can’t.
