Such a beautiful car. That price is excellent for that size and power. I am definitely a Subaru guy but I can respect a decent Mazda. I've been watching your channel for years due to the amount of info you give. On Mazda I definitely think a touch screen would be beneficial but being one of the few car brands who use the dials for their infotainment system, I can respect their wanting to be different. The gauges in that are very user friendly and simple. I like that. The hybrid model getting 39 mpg is awesome for sure while keeping the Mazda "fun to drive" aspect. Speaking to a non car person is always fun because you see how they view the car world and all the gadgets. I have spoke to several while working at a large multi-brand dealer and most people don't ask for a hybrid, most want just the gas version. Just my experience. All in all I always like your reviews and even though I may not agree with some statements, I respect what you do. Thanks for another great video guys!

I think you guys are among the best reviewers out there, I'd like to make a suggestion. I get from a branding perspective your use of the donuts to measure storage, but objectively it doesn't really give us a specific relative measurement. Suggest you start sharing the diameter measurements of the donuts to give the viewer a better sense of what type of storage volume actually exists in each vehicle.

I probably shouldn't be surprised since this is by far the most cost effective way to get the Toyota hybrid system, but I really thought Mazda would integrate it with their Skyactiv engine. One big question I do have is this: Does the CX-50 retain the same AWD system as before or does it use Toyota's for that as well? Mazda's system seems to be pretty good and just a step or two behind Subaru's symmetrical AWD while Toyota's system is about on par with part time AWD systems from GM, Hyundai/Kia, Nissan etc...which is to say fine for wet/snowy roads but not really suited for even light off-roading. But to be fair, the 19" wheels on this CX-50 kind of discourage that sort of thing. Anyway, other than the too high pricing, Mazda has made a much better looking and handling Rav 4 that also feels more expensive on the inside. Maybe this will be a huge sales success for Mazda and give them the extra money cushion to gamble on putting the RWD, inline 6 platform of the bigger SUV's underneath a sleek, low sedan or hatchback bodywork? Probably not, but one can hope.
@johnsanford35969 күн бұрын
Answered in the video. The entire drivetrain is Toyota, so the AWD is the same as a RAV4 AWD.

Why no heated rear seats, heated steering wheel? If they offered that, then this would be my top choice of CRV. When is the Subaru Forester Hybrid going to be featured? ❤ Hope you’re having a great week!
@JosephPayton-m9g9 күн бұрын
Mazda made the right decision having this partnership. It makes almost the perfect compact suv in the class. However, the discrepancy of getting this trim level and not having some features like a heated steering wheel or heated rear seats is kind of a missed opportunity because some people may want these features. At least a heated steering wheel will do it justice. One small detail, the seats are nice but I feel like if they gave this a black headliner, it would look a little better on the inside. Red seats with a beige headliner looks odd to me.
@Umarrcs19998 күн бұрын
I agree with you. Red seats with black headliner looks a lot better than a white/beige headliner. A black headliner also makes the interior look more sporty & clean. More luxury too. New 2025 Camry has red seats with a black headliner & it looks gorgeous. Same with Highlander. Even the Honda CR-V has black seats with a black headliner.

While I agree that seems odd, my guess is they were either trying to keep the pricetag reasonable or they plan to introduce some special model later that has all those things. And to be fair, I'm not sure any of those items would be a deal breaker to someone who really loves the CX-50 yet wants more efficiency.

It’s so Mazda can get defectors to grab the CX50 Turbo models instead. Toyota/Lexus said you can’t fully load their Hybrid trims in this 50 hybrid
@jbm08669 күн бұрын
@@rizzystaydizzy I can't see any of those things being a dealbreaker for me, but then again I live in the Southwest where a heated steering wheel would rarely get used. I'm also fine with a normal backup camera, and my opinion is headlights that move with the steering are just one more electrical motor/moving part that could go wrong and be expensive to fix out of warranty. That said, I think Mazda does some sort of special edition hybrid that is fully loaded. Maybe not this model year, but at some point during the lifespan of the first gen CX-50.
@johnsanford35969 күн бұрын
I've managed to drive for 45 years without a heated steering wheel, which while nice I can just wear gloves. The LORD God Almighty equipped me with a 360 backup sensing system, i.e. eyes and a head that can turn, and adaptive headlights are cool, but again, not necessary. The only area where a "hybrid is supposed to be a step above" is in fuel economy. MOST hybrids also do better on low end grunt (0-30). Everything else is fluff.

Toyota's hybrid system is the best in the world, they've been mass producing hybrids longer than any other car company, and their ECVT is known for its reliability. There are 10-15 year old Lexus models with over 100k miles on the clock selling on the used market for ridiculous prices because with regular maintenance and maybe minor repairs...the new owners can likely get another 100k.

Big Mazda fan here. Own a 24 MX-5 currently. But in the hybrid compact SUV space it just seems like there are better options for the price. Hyundai Tucson hybrid facelift for 2025 seems to have a very compelling package and styling for the segment. It has all the features this Mazda is missing in the unlimited trim. I feel that the CX-50 in the turbo premium trim is where it's at for this model, catering to the driving enthusiasts that want to or need to drive a compact SUV.

Wrong info? Sorry but opinions are just what they are. So if you can't comprehend that, then I guess you shame yourself. Fact 1 the Mazda does not have the 360 camera. Fact the Mazda does not have the blind spot camera on screen. Fact the Mazda does not have the heated rear seats. Fact the Mazda has smaller entertainment screens and the old "Idrive" like interface. Fact, the Mazda has a spare where the Hyundai does not. Score one for the Mazda. Everything else is subjective. It's my opinion that the bulk of hybrid drivers are less interested in corner carving and "zoom zoom" than they are in comfortable ride and features. To me, and I assure you sales numbers will eventually bear, that the Hyundai, RAV4, and CRV hybrid vehicle packages will appeal more to the masses.

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid for both the US and Canada are both manufactured at the joint Toyota/Mada factory in Huntsville, Alabama. However, despite the great Toyota powertrain marriage, in terms of standard equipment, the US and Canadian models differ markedly, in stark favor of the Canadian model. The Canadian model’s top trim (The CX-50 Hybrid GT) comes with heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear cross traffic alert, 360-degree camera system. While some of the ‘missing’ features can be found on the gas-version CX-50 Turbo Premium, so goes the fuel economy found in the hybrid version. The US top-trim hybrid version (Hybrid Premium Plus) has no heated steering wheel, no front cross traffic alert and no 350-degree camera system. No trim level of the CX-50 features a digital rearview camera, especially noteworthy since rear window visibility is quite narrow. To me, this lack of standard and upper-trim equipment makes at least the upper trims of the CX-50 Hybrid not competitive in features and values with its rivals in the class, e.g. the Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Tucson and to the Honda CRV. This stateside strip-down of CX-50 equipment compared to Canada, according to some conspiracy theorists, is an attempt to push the US market toward the CX-70 and CX-90 if all you want at best is 25 mpg. At this point, I want to either find a way to purchase a Canadian-spec’d CX-50 from the factory in Huntsville, or wait for a mid-cycle or 2026 model year refresh opportunity (if I’ve not bought something else) to see if Mazda pulls their heads out of their a**es!
