Guess i am confused why you put it on the board stand as opposed to just leaving the base on it when it was gorgeous. now its a little goofy and impractical. just my opinion, but i have notice wood turners take the base plates off alot and not sure why.

The whole plan was to make something a bit different than the regular vase. Sort of an art piece for display. I understand not everyone will like it.

I thought exactly the same. Should of kept it as a goblet vase. Not sure why he took the foot off and put it on a board, must be a designer thing. Just my preference, still a beautiful piece just impractical now as said above.

Color mix of the resins contrasting against the cherry burl is amazeballs! I think I can survive the occassional "nails on a chalkboard" sound that happens with the turning, so I'm subscribing. 😁

I liked the technique of running the tool rest down the middle of the inside of the bowl. Seems very logical.Maybe even try reverse turning using that technique.

Does the bowl steady at 6:13 reduces chatter, and does it act as a safety if the bowl were to come detached...

It does cut down on chatter but it will not stop the bowl from coming off. Just lets me use my tool a little more aggressively than not having it would let me.

The epoxy colors work awesome with the wood tones. Sink a neodymium round magnet into the vase bottom and slug of steel into the base of the board from the bottom side leaving a thin layer of wood so it doesn't show from the top of the board. Could hold it steady enough?

I thought that you had made a big mistake when you cut the bottom off....what do I know right? When you remounted the base it went from a nice looking vase to an stunning elegant vase that would look awesome in any home. Nice work MP!

Very nice. Heat can also speed up the cure process. Maybe 110 degrees F would have cured it in a day or so. Looks like you put the time to good use though.

Gorgeous! Love all the ‘beach-y’ colors. Now you gave me an idea looking at it - is it possible to make like 4 smaller versions of the vase, and make goblets of them, like a set? You’d have to seal the inside somehow (clear resin ?) so people could drink out of them? Do you weld? You could make the stems and foot out of metal? If you like the ideas and do it, please video it, would love to see how it turns out. With those beautiful colors you used, and light wood that looks like it was from the beach? Sorry if I give too many suggestions... it’s a beautiful piece, yes, very ‘artsy’...

Hey Dawn, my pieces are for display only. I would never suggest to put liquid in them. But yes it was fairly sturdy when I tested it with some fake flowers.
