You should call that bowl "Red and Black Cherry," since you mixed those two specific colors and used cherry wood. You are right, the black and red swirls look AWESOME!! Glad to see you're still exploring the best ways to do things with the resin. The results are wonderful. I like the pic at the end, showing you and Leigh Ann. You sure are a cute couple!

Holy Massive Blank, Batman! It will be interesting to see how the cat litter works out...I was about to try an oven to speed up drying on some blanks I cut months ago, but now I see some other pros trying food dehydrators...any opinion on those? And...great work, as usual!
@MoonpieCreations4 жыл бұрын
I saw Larry try the dehydrator. Seemed to work pretty well. As for the kitty litter.......it did not work any better than shavings. I was in my shed the other day and opened the box, I had forgotten about it lol. I'm going to turn it soon. Ken
@staynavytom29634 жыл бұрын
I had another question: do you dry your wood pieces before putting them into the resin? If yes, just in an oven?
@MoonpieCreations4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Your wood needs to be completely dry down to below 10% before using resin. If you can find or make stabilized wood it is best. I have some stock blanks that have been drying for years, but I also dry some wood in the oven. It takes a week or so to get them dry enough and sometimes they are not dry inside. Ken

Good stuff, man! Love the color combination. One question, what usually determines for you wether to use O.B. Shine Juice or not?
@MoonpieCreations4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I know this is going to sound weird, but the bowl tells me if it needs OB Shine Juice or not. I determine whether to use it or not after I sand to a shine. I look at the bowl and decide if it will look better with a shine of a matte/satin finish. And it tells me. I know what you are thinking "This dude is nuts"....well....yes....yes I am. :) Ken

Another nice looking bowl and resin. Couple of questions: did the resin soak into the soft wood like you wanted; and what brand of iron did you buy?
@MoonpieCreations4 жыл бұрын
Yes the resin tends to soak into the wood around an inch or so. The punk wood soaked it up good. I get my branding irons from ebay www.ebay.com/usr/number_1_ladies?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754 Ken
