And now back to our regularly scheduled programming: Ken makes cool stuff, but the cool stuff really makes him work for it! You are right, not quite what you might have had in mind, but looks great in spite of all of that. I have to admit, I had an "OMG!!" moment when that bowl came off the lathe - it looked like a bowling ball that had been launched out of a cannon. I'm glad you weren't hurt - that bowl looks like it could have caused you some SERIOUS pain, at that stage.

I like how the wood grain mimics the swirling of the pencils. And I like that you used smaller pieces of pencil, because then they look like jewels.

I've seen a lot of colored pencils in resin... but one thing I've not seen yet is colorred pencil shavings in resin.

Check out Nick Zammit's channel bc he does alot of pencil ✏ projects & I think he's done one with pencil shavings in resin.

@@RebekkaRN1962 Zammiti is great and hilarious when he waffles on, I subscribe to him. Ben's Worx (sp?) another who does a lot with color pencils and resin. I hope to post the post about colored pencil shavings on several channels until someone does it

Great job. Colored pencils can make for some interesting patterns. Always scary when the piece jumps off the lathe, but glad you weren't injured when it did. I always enjoy your content and creativity. The subtitles are great because it feels like I'm getting an insider's look into your thought process and experience while making your pieces. 👏👏👍👍

The pencils on top of pecan is a very good combination. Too bad the pencil finial didn't work out but you do have a beautiful lidded bowl.

Hey Mr Ken, that bowl is very pleasing to the eye. Thought we were going to loose it there for a minute but obviously no damage to you or the bowl. Enjoyed watching this. 😁

You could try a blank with holes drilled vertically instead of turning the top down. Then fill the holes with resin and pencils, no formal needed. Turn as normal to reveal cool pattern.

Ken, the pencils are a great colorful touch.....think of all the resin you would have to use and the pigments saved to get that look. Nonetheless, the bowl came out beautiful. Stay 😎

Good evening, Ken. Hey, I like it. I bought several boxes of colored pencils a long time ago. Guess what? I still haven't used them. Not sure why, "What's the Point?" Well maybe someday. Your piece is a fun looking piece. Cutting the pencils into smaller pieces looks like a good idea. Well done my friend.

When it came flying off, that's the point where regardless of what's happening I go in the house for a bit. I love the pecan, it looks really good finished up like this. Would love to get my hands on a slab of it at some point.

Wanna do something interesting? Make a bowl or vase out of any wood and clear epoxy then purposefully break it into pieces. Then get colored epoxy and but it back together with it. Its a repair method called Kintsugi usually used for repairing broken ceramic bowls and it looks gorgeous

This one reminds me of a chocolate donut with sprinkles especially right before you started to hollow it out. Lol love it for what it is and always look forward to your videos.😁👍

When it popped up on my Roku, I thought it was a new one from Nick Zameti. Seriously though, it's a great looking piece. I'm getting more comfortable with my lathe, but I don't know about the whole resin thing. You guys make some really awesome stuff with it, but I think I'll resin vicariously through your videos. At least for now. Thanks for another great video. GT

How did you come up with that? The pencils don't really flip my skirt, but maybe some of the honeycombs, or Doug's planets, or something like the stained glass project for the lid and top band. Don't get me wrong either. It's a great project in spite of the pencils.

Hey Jules. I wait till about 125-135 degrees, but then you have to move quickly as it will start to set up.

I know you JUST said no more pencils, but i thought it would look really cool to take the colored pencils tips, like maybe an inch+, and have them all pointing upwards, add resin and make a cutting board out of them.

When choosing what kind of pencils you plan to use, does everyone go with color because it's colored? Or because the graphite pencils might be more brittle? Or dustier?

ooh a clear slow motion poor that looks strange so used to colour as for the size of that chunk of wood at the start the pecan would be nice to see you do a big bowl/biscuit barrel be cool just an idea for you heck could do a bread bin/barrel and try and do it with some bread in resin lol ob shine baby nice then poof ejection wood as for your wood being hard no need to brag about it lol 70k nice as for the pot nice I like it
