And now back to our regularly scheduled programming: Ken makes cool stuff, but the cool stuff really makes him work for it! You are right, not quite what you might have had in mind, but looks great in spite of all of that. I have to admit, I had an "OMG!!" moment when that bowl came off the lathe - it looked like a bowling ball that had been launched out of a cannon. I'm glad you weren't hurt - that bowl looks like it could have caused you some SERIOUS pain, at that stage.

I like how the wood grain mimics the swirling of the pencils. And I like that you used smaller pieces of pencil, because then they look like jewels.

I've seen a lot of colored pencils in resin... but one thing I've not seen yet is colorred pencil shavings in resin.

Great job. Colored pencils can make for some interesting patterns. Always scary when the piece jumps off the lathe, but glad you weren't injured when it did. You could try a blank with holes drilled vertically instead of turning the top down. Then fill the holes with resin and pencils, no formal needed. Turn as normal to reveal cool pattern.

Wanna do something interesting? Make a bowl or vase out of any wood and clear epoxy then purposefully break it into pieces. Then get colored epoxy and but it back together with it. Its a repair method called Kintsugi usually used for repairing broken ceramic bowls and it looks gorgeous

How did you come up with that? The pencils don't really flip my skirt, but maybe some of the honeycombs, or Doug's planets, or something like the stained glass project for the lid and top band. Don't get me wrong either. It's a great project in spite of the pencils.
