A Purolator made for Mopar filter. Filter looks good to me, did its job. Only way I can read date code, made April 3, 2014. If you have another idea Whip, let me know. Weird thing today, oil filter Friday didn't show up on my front page as suggestion today. Had to search to find it. hmm. Thanks for the vid, have a great day!

What’s odd is, i’m not so sure this is purolator made. It has a metal core with holes, rather than louvers. And the bypass looks different from what mann hummel filter looks like like.
@faxmen095 ай бұрын
@@lukeWiz44 It's only since about 2018-2019 that Purolator went to a louvered tube. Topic looks to be made 2014. They stuck with holes for a while after M&H took sole ownership in 2013. As for bypass, Purolator always used two types in the dome. One the flat spring type seen in many of the smaller filters, but also the type shown on this Mopar. I'm quite confident this one made by (M&H) Purolator US filter in Fayetteville NC plant.

I’m impressed at the Super tech oil and the Mopar filter. That oil seems to be of very good quality. I’m an Amsoil guy and I usually turn my nose up at the household brands. I am taking notice. I am also impressed at the filtration of the Mopar oil filter. Most manufacturer brands would never trap all the sludge/carbon that this one removed from the oil. ( at over 9,000 miles there is bound to be a bit of it there) I’d say that she should maintain her oil change regimen, but I wouldn’t go too much further between oil changes. It would be interesting to have an oil analysis done on that Super Tech oil. Great video as always.

Looks like it held up well. As many other commenters are pointing out, it looks like a mann hummel made filter. But i am not so sure. They typically use a different bypass design, and a metal core with louvers rather than holes.

You could be right, but the only real difference is the holes instead of louvers. The Purolator Boss oil filters use this same type of bypass. Thanks👍

In a few weeks I'm having the oil changed on my 99 Chevy Silverado 4X4 5.3L pickup. It has gone about a year, which I regularly do between oil changes because I get low miles on it. It usually only has about 3000-5000 miles on it a year. I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage oil in it so it's able to run a full year between oil changes. I'll have the shop save the filter and send it to you.

Pretty small filter for that big engine but it has done it's job. However, pretty clearly maxed or near-maxed in its capability. Of course there are better filters and better oils and blah, blah, blah but the main thing is the amount of crud visible at that mileage. If it was my engine, I'd change earlier....like several thousand miles earlier.

Everyone thinks 9k is too long for an oil change doesn't take into account how good today's oil is. The filter is something you should change in-between that's what I do. Can't speak for a charger but my Durango has a 7 QT capacity plus a factory oil cooler. The only way to really know if you going too long between oil changes is to send a sample to a lab but just looking at my used oil it always looks like it can keep going unlike my S10 which is black at half the milage.

Then blend with new for my 24/7 generators. When my backup truck is 6 months oil change with only a few miles on it. Gens are going on 5000 hourz! 100 hr. Oil change max. New fuel system parts. Carbon cleaned exhaust! My autos get babied!

@@donwyoming1936 There is a guy on you tube called "I do cars", he does engine autopsies. There, you can see the results of extended oil change intervals. It is not pretty. Oil and filters are cheap, motors are not.
@Resistculturaldecline5 ай бұрын
@donwyoming1936 Actually not. The extended oil change intervals are proving to be detrimental. The extended OCI isn't from engineers, it's from the EPA and marketing. Mechanics, accomplished engine builders, shop owners galore, and used oil analysis have spoken on this for a few years now. The cat is out of the bag. Oils themselves have improved, yes. But no oil can shrug the fuel and hydrocarbons that end up in the oil fill. Direct Injection engines put quite a bit of fuel in the oil like engines 50 yrs ago. Instead of due to carburetors, it's from low tension rings and less than optimal injector spray patterns squirting (instead of atomization) the cylinder walls and washing the oil out of the cross hatch and rings. There's lots of evidence out there as of 2024 from accomplished people.
