Alot of potential Austin. 390 or 401 for the Drag car. I'd cover up the sun roof and broken rear hatch to prevent further water damage. I believe the fender flairs are the same as used on the Eagles. Body panels, floors & trim can be sourced from Concord, Eagle, Hornet & Gremlins.

Man it would be awesome to keep the old paint on one of them and put a new stripe/decal kit on it. They are all 3 good looking cars. I’m flat out jealous lol. I’ve been looking for a good center console and the lower dash a/c shelf for mine for a while now. Y’all keep it up man, I’m digging it.

We got weirdly lucky finding both of these cars reasonably close by and for reasonable pricing. Well, at least reasonable to unreasonable people like us! The #1 car is probably going to stay pretty much as ratty as it has been since we brought it to life for Powertour last year... #2 which is the car we just did a video of, that one's probably going full pro touring restomod kind of build. Well. Maybe. #3... we might get kind of crazy with that one we'll see. There are a few potential options for what to do with that car especially since it's an Auto

Phoenix Graphics has the factory stripe kit for it. The 904 auto trans. would be ok for drag racing after a upgrade. I have a all original 79 AMX sitting in the garage . This will be another great project for you. I just hope youtube is around long enough for you to get them all done?

Oh we certainly have some challenges ahead of us with these 3 but it should be a heck of a fun time. The car with the gold front end parts is going full pro touring restoration so.. paint body stickers all the bits. This new one... we actually have an AMC 727 sitting on the floor in the shop that could easily be built to take serious abuse as well. Would you stay 904 or go 727?

LOL Thanks ✌ Beyond that, A couple "reasons" (excuses) to go 904 over 727... 1.) 904 can be "built" to easily handle the power level of say 400 hp gross. 2.) The 904 is lighter (faster) than a 727 AND consumes less HP than the 904, so more of that precious Flywheel HP actually makes it back to the tires... 3.) A 904 can be built with "998" internals which have a LOWER !st Gear Ratio than the 904 did... hmmm... 😁 4.) If feeling "real adventuress" the later 904/998/999 Automatics had Lock-Up Converter... so that can help, a little bit, reduce the engine rpm's on the highway. Peace 🤠✌

As a lifelong car guy I too have made some to say the least questionable decisions and or purchases. Goes with being car guys. Would restore the original low mileage AMX, the center one with the Chevy SB would be made into the drag car if it was mine. Great content as always. Keep them coming.

??About the Chevy engine?? You know something, if they wanted a Chevy, they could have bought one and in fact there's lots of them out there! If one owns an AMC, I'd assume that's what they wanted? As far as the expense & difficulty of AMC parts, It requires patience and it's just part of the hobby. Oh and Lucore, you got it going and love that you guys work on keeping them genuine! After all it's what makes them unique!

We DO understand the appeal of the SBC/BBC/LS swapped stuff. It's cheap easy to work on simple recipes for whatever power level are easy to find. But it DOES ruin the uniqueness of a car for sure, and that SBC doesn't have any place in an AMC we are going to work on and enjoy. Don't you worry! a good friend of mines dad, Andrew Muldrew, had or still has a wicked spirit that he raced. it was purple i believe. im sure youve seen it before. they lived in westerville. the car was nasty. the spirit is my favorite amc and always has been. im like Jim, i love the weird and odd and unique cars.

Ya gotta save these 3. Waiting on #1 to get headers and a decent size exhaust to see how much hp it gains on the dyno. Looks like a fun daily. Take the sunroof from #3 and install it in #1 as it is the only roadworthy one at this time. I would daily that with no problem. The plan for a drag car, pro touring, and a daily fun mobile works for me. This should be very interesting Austin.

If you think you're crazy, then I must be totally off my rocker! Although these AMX's are a far cry from the originals ('68-'70), they're still a really cool part of AMC heritage and we should do our utmost to save them. I'd be more than happy to have all three of them. I had FIVE '68-'69 Javelins. Due to space and cash constraints, only my VERY FIRST car, a '68 Javelin, bought in 1979 for $275, still remains with me. So.....build those puppies....do AMC proud!

The seat from the 3rd car in the tan fender car also the engine from the 3rd car in the tan fender car. All the rest of the 3rd car to repair the 1st car. Keep any parts you don’t use on either car. My 02 cents worth

The words haven't came to my mind yet give a month or two. Seriously being different is a good thing now a day cause there's just to many mustangs as race cars. I've never have been a AMC guy but if you built it right it should work from what I can tell from mid plate to differential looks like a short distance and that's a great thing that's one of the reasons why everybody builds a mustang but your going to run into aftermarket performance issues if your going to want to go real fast and staying with AMC. But I wish you all the luck and as always be safe 👍

The first car is a bit too far gone to be a safe drag car. We would really have to rebuild the entire body to make it even somewhat safe. The 3rd car is as far as we can see WAY cleaner and more complete... we'll see. So far we don't even know the health of that motor. Think it's fair to say EVERYONE wants to see us build a drag car version out of one of these things though

Let's say it's "Spirited". I used to run parts in my youth when these were new so I pulled on to the AMC lot 3-4 times a week. I also worked 12 years at Pontiac dealer up the street from the AMC dealer. I'm kinda thinking #3 is in better shape than 1&2 so maybe the worst between 1&2 gets parted or sold so you have a stick car and a automatic car. The floors/rust should be the determinating factor. I was peeking at the 68 Lemans behind #3 too.

The one with the 350 is probably a factory amc spirit Wich where made later part of 79-80 something Wich came with the little 4 cly. Chevy engine. I know because after my amx got totaled I bought one had the 4 cyl.somked like a freight train pull the 4 cyl.got flywheel clutch and pressure plate out of a Monza and there you go.

AMCAD - AMC Acquisition Disease. Doesn't the 727 have a real heavy 2nd drum and that's why they're not sought after for the strip? Too bad AMC didn't make a pickup, would look great next to those, A Matador would as well.
