I think it's great that Amex has a no tolerance policy for those who break the rules, it helps to maintain the integrity of their programs for those who don't. I prefer that over ever changing terms to try and compensate for the rule breakers. That said, kudos again for teaching how to maximize value while playing by the rules.

According to what American express is okay with using Plastiq, my account may be shutdown. I paid my internet bill using PayPal key. It wasn't because my internet provider doesn't accept American express or for getting bonus rewards. It was only because of security in case someone was to get my credit card number. It's much easier and faster getting a new PayPal key than getting a new Amex card in the mail, and tbh this even saves them some metal and shipping costs. If I have committed a violation, I hope they close my account asap so that I can move on to another card that i still need to hit the minimum spend on LOL

I don't think AMX would like PayPal key because they're losing specific data on their customers' spending habits, which is a key advantage they have over Visa and MasterCard.

The only way I'll ever get a big welcome bonus again, without Platiiq, is to incorporate major travel spending into the welcome bonus spending window. To use the bonus to pay for THAT big spend, that big spend has to be one of the last things purchased. It should be in the last month that the welcome bonus is earned. That is why I say "If a card will not stand on its own without a large welcome bonus, I don't want it."

I'm confused. I pay my mini storage rent and my apt renter's insurance with my AMEX (directly, not through Plastiq). How do those companies take AMEX unless AMEX has signed them up as a company that can take AMEX, if AMEX doesn't want me to use my card there?? Also, if I buy TJ gift cards at Trader Joe's, or another grocery store's gift cards at that store, is that allowed?

Hey Sebby. Does spending on a business card help get rid of the Amex popup? I closed my personal Platinum card about a year ago after the annual fee hit, and now I only have the BBP. I put a decent amount of spend on it, but I have gotten the no bonus popup for the Gold card three months in a row. Then today I got an email from Amex for a 100K offer for the Business Platinum. Will spending on my BBP get rid of the popup, or are there separate personal and business jails? Thanks.

I pay most of my bills directly and quite a few are insurance related, but I pay those bills directly to the company with my Amex. I don’t use any third party or anything. Yo Sebby! I've seen some data points that people have been able to get the AMEX incidental airline fee credit to trigger by adding funds to their United travel bank. Seems like a good way to make use of the credit, especially since I haven't been able to fly at all this year and United is already my selected airline. However, I'm afraid of kicking the AMEX hornet nest since this pretty specifically falls outside of the categories the credit is supposed to apply towards. What's your take on this?

Why you don’t make a video about amex deciding to block payments on the cards IF they think you spent too much for that month without telling you anything and you will find out the hard way because the cards won’t work anymore? It happened for 2 months on a row on our Amex PT to me and my wife. Thinking to give them back. It’s really poor service. At least here in Italy.

AMEX was great in the 80's and 90's. Today the service is crappy and they'll freeze your account in a heartbeat for breaking an unwritten rule (like paying your phone bill with the card) regardless of how long you've paid AMEX on time.

Personally i blame youtube. if people would stop fucking blabbing about gaming the system.. amex would not know how the fuck they doing it. Every change they have implemented i have seen some youtuber talking about it. i litterally saw people talking about using amex to buy P.M then then selling them for cash.. and not a week later, amex made the 2021 P.M. will be treated as a cash advance policy.

Harry's is definitely a great deal compared to the cheap**** disposable razors on the shelf. I typically get three really good shaves from one blade and don't even need to shave every day since the shave is THAT close. The cost comparison is a no brainer.

Always be careful! I do not make AMEX mad at me, as a rule. Think about it, does it worth that you loose the privilege of accessing Centurion lounges, Delta lounges, and other benefits for maybe an extra 50,000 or even 100,000 points from gaming the system? I think the answer is clear. =)

Buying gift cards isn't the problem. I believe it's when you intentionally purchase enough of them to specifically reach the minimum spend level (like literally thousands of dollars worth of "liquid cash" in gift cards).
