In an interview with Utah.com, (horse)power couple Paul and Michell Cox of Fab Rats talk about “Operation Yellow Submarine,” the recovery and restoration of a sunken boat that emerged as the Lake Powell water level receded. The story is heartwarming and heart-wrenching at the same time. Watch until the end for an emotional account of what happened on the summer day in 1993 when the boat sank and discover why this job was a Fab Rats fave.

If their channel is appealing for Utah tourism, maybe the officials in charge of tourism in Utah can lean on their elected representatives to do something about the bozo who gave them such a hard time about taking the boat in the first place. So what if undesirable mollusks were attached. After such a long time out of water, there's no way they were still alive!

The UTAH DWR recently issued Fab Rats a citation saying they transported mussels across state lines. Then Fab Rats posted a video about fighting it. Then when it went to a judge, it was thrown out. The DWR officer is on one of their videos saying the mussels were dead. (this officer has been in trouble before but he is still continued to do these things). The boat had been out of water for about a year and the policy only states if it’s been in the water the last 30 days. They cleaned it before transport, then it sat in Glendale UT for a winter, then went to AZ and got pressure washed again. The DWR was saying it needed to be an approved pressure washer, but that's only if the boat was removed from water in the past 30 days. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnStYq2XiJyHm9E AND kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGKqo5eOhddlodk. The original finding of the boat was posted on December 27, 2021. The rear was still in a bit of water. It was not in any water when Fab Rats went to look at it the first time. Then an ignorant news channel does a story on it and tries to degrade a local KZbinr. ABC4 UTAH does not do any research

DWR operations around the country can be some of the most jackbooted thug organizations around. And they are so hypocritical about it, just like the jackass DNR guy at lake powell - he comes to Paul's shop and he's so nice and friendly and trying to shoot the breeze, he even admits the mussels are dead, and then months later slams them with crime accusations. Definitely need more accountability among DWR officers. These are cops yet they are not held to the same kinds of standards as normal cops.

I love this. There’s plenty of comments here about what’s been going on, but to see the state of Utah put this family forward as representative of the people of Utah(effectively) says a lot about the people running your state. The reason their KZbin channel, and a few associated or similar channels, are doing so well is because they’re just good people. Yeah they’re doing cool stuff, but there isn’t a whole lot of people simply being human in our media these days and a lot of us need there to be.

I'm from the UK , I started watching this awesome channel when London got his first truck video,2yrs ago when I was in hospital, I'm terminally sick and I have extreme depression and anxiety severe night terrors and extreme ptsd with suicidal tendencies which is a result from a work injury. I watch these everyday without fail because their down to earth honest working true family values help me to escape a very dark place where the deamons are saying nasty things. These give enough light to help me out of the darkness for another day, what's happening with them, is absolutely ridiculous, and that officer isn't someone you need advertising your stare county for trying to encourage people to come and spend time and money. He needs to be sacked

I am glad someone decided to let them tell their story on a channel that's not fab rats , and you let them tell it. I saw ABC in Utah this morning and they twisted it all around and were not truthful at all , they even said Paul took it off the water. What do expect from a channel George Sorros owns , he tell's them what to say , no journalism involved at all. I have watched this entire story unfold on Fab Rats and Merlin's old school garage, and I was just blown away that Utah has not fired this officer and sent him packing , all he does is harass people unfairly like a Karen with a badge. Even the Judge threw it out once he saw the evidence. I hope whoever is in charge wakes up and realizes he is costing the state of Utah a lot of money while harassing the people who pay his paycheck. He needs to go !

We are boaters and I love Fabrats YT channel so this story got to my heart. While we boat in Hawaii in a large Zodiac like the Coast Guard, we have been caught in some bad storms with 6ft+ swells. It can be terrifying. Staying just a few minutes too long before heading back to port, having fun and not wanting to leave, or just something happening to the boat, if you’re a boater, you’ve had happen. We waited 20 yrs to buy our boat after moving here but we were boaters our whole lives prior. Your boat is your pride and joy. It’s your one indulgence. To have something like that happen is traumatic, heartbreaking, and frankly a huge financial hit. Needless to say I cried watching this Fabrats series. Utah tourism, you should treat these channel creators like gold as they are your free Press Machine. I’ve worked in a states tourism so I know how much it means in terms of a financial windfall for Utah. Putting them in a position to have to hire an attorney. Shameful. There isn’t a more wholesome representation than Michelle and Paul Cox and their entire family and friends. Plus they cleaned up a boat that the state would have had to pay to retrieve. Just bad all the way around how they were treated.

Love watching your videos,I've watched the whole yellow sub rescue and restoration project, man this clip made me a little teary eyed talking about your Dad,and the tow truck build, then it really hit on the recap of how the boat ended up at the bottom ... Anyway, yes people were just as nuts back then as they are now... Taking their baby on a little boat on a big lake 🤪 yikes ! Glad they made it out alive . That just isn't a place for babies, nor is a drag strip race with alcohol cars, I remember being 11 and having to take my baby nephew out of the stands ,cause he was just not having it. And my brother in-law and sister didn't get it. But that didn't even help, he just was screening for his moma 😭 the whole time. That was 40 years ago. Same with kids in the back of campers while driving down the highways. My one boss lost his 7year old that way😪. That's just not allowed now adays.

Great people doing great things just because it's a great thing to do. If the whole world did just a little of what Paul and Family do on a regular basis, how wonderful our world would be. God Bless them and anyone else who shares similar mindsets. As for the "officer" who tried to darken their day......what goes around, comes around. Darkness begets darkness. Pray he figures that out at some point. 🙏

I found fabrats because of grandpa sherms truck I had just had an under the hood fire and I used shots of sherms truck to figure out where to route my wiring. Then got into Ezduzit racing. And been a fan since then

Paul and Michell did this great thing for the owners of the boat, to only have the State of Utah attack them for some dumbass muscles. Gov ruins EVERYTHING.
