@@zacharylemley9027 Well said. What struck me about this video is how the heck would those seven - or at least the last five that didn't call MORR - have gotten out if Matt and Paul had not happened along? Those were tough pulls and pretty technical, so most other rigs would have just buried themselves in the sand if they tried to help. I sure hope the lake fills up again.

Wow...absolutely amazing! My Jeep died in my company's parking garage and I had to call a tow truck to take it to a shop 15 miles away....it cost me $300. I can't imagine how much a 4 hour drive to recover a stuck vehicle would cost!
@bobw53jrma10 күн бұрын
Back around 1990 I know it was a base rate of $600 if you got stuck out on Race Point (the end of Cape Cod).. down in Rhode Island, if you got stuck on one of the sand trails it was a base of $400.. . So a few years ago out here in New Mexico, I found myself in a bad situation, weekday, offseason, north end of the lake, 4 miles off the paved road. I was following a road others had traveled about 100 feet from a giant mud flat, about 30 feet higher.. And it just collapsed. I thought I was going over, full steering lock down hill and goosed it. Tried backing out of it to safe ground, which was only like 100 yards away, but everything was so dry, we had had no rain at all for 6 months, the gravels were like ball bearings. Every 3 feet you would go backwards, you would slide a foot down hill towards the mud flat. So my left front eventually dipped off into that mud, and sunk.. . I was expecting big big money. About a 20 mile drive for them, plus 4 miles on very very mild trails. They showed up with a Jeep and a winch. 5 minutes. $250, plus tax. I was quite happy. Really nice guys.. Bartoo Sand and Gravel in Truth or Consequences, yes they run a gravel pit.. . I did ask them if they were going to laugh at me for getting stuck after they drove away, and they said "Yeah, pretty much". Then they said they would follow me out, and I said I was Ok from here, and they really wanted to follow.. So we get to the end of the trail, and my passenger had to get out to open the gate, and we both drove through.. And I yelled out the window "That's why you wanted to follow me, so you didn't have to get out to open the gate"... "Yep"... . $250 was a very fair price, took them an hour to get there because they were pulling somebody out at the other lake when I called. Nice people, I was happy. . Some of these recoveries have to be thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars.

I don’t understand how people think they can take these stock rigs loaded to the gills, with a 30’ travel trailer, into the soft sand and then get out on their own. Matt you may be making recovery so easy that people near you have lost all sense of caution.

Could you please do a video of what to do to check if an area is safe so people don't get stuck? With the receding water of Lakes Powell and Mead, you probably have more business than you can handle and possibly need to expand.

I guess when the water is gone, the people will leave the area. Problem solved.

I’m just thinking out loud here, but maybe don’t drag your big a$$ camper downhill through the sand…

@@PS-rr2jt People are getting stuck in small SUVs as well.

It is amazing , I just noticed your over 1M subs. Just think it was just a couple of years agoyou were complaining about you lack of camera memory and it was a lot of work to film. Looks like you have figured a formula for success not only in off road recovery but also in making videos. Congradulations Matt , congrats to you , the crew and the family.

It’s bad when it’s hotter in the south than the desert right now. Also, do these big 2500s with huge campers not expect to get stuck in sand?

Of course not, we think our big paperweights with normal 31" all terrain tires and full pressure and 4wd will do the trick everytime....and of course we dont bother buying any maxtrax or other useful recovery gear because those are only for the jeep people. Jokes aside, like Matt has said before, most of the people he deals with are tourists who have no clue of the dangers of the sands there.

Normal sand, they're mostly going to be okay. This smooth grain sand is not normal to most places on the NA continent.

Having grown up in the Mojave Desert, I'm very familiar with my getting stuck in sand. I really appreciate what these guys are doing. Good job guys!
