I'm giving up on smoking. As a guy with dreams I'm really embarrassed of it but in sparring or running I always knew how to pace myself. In sparring I was avoiding punches with ease (my reach really helps that) so the other guy always burns out overextending, then out of frustration they try to knock my head off throwing 100% punches and it doesnt work. for those who hate running I absolutely understand. I hate pure running but there is a way to fix it. I was laughing and being skeptical when someone advised me that but headphones can really save your day. not only it makes you deaf to your terrible breathing (not saying you should not control your breathing but it makes you focus on something else) but you can use your imagination. be Rocky of your own movie that pumps you up.

I like the mentality, but I still think Cardio is More important. You can exert as much energy as your body can handle. The stronger your cardio, the more dynamic of a fighter you can be.
@josh2x226 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Think of yourself with stat bars. Power, speed, feints, footwork, combinations are all powered by cardio and if you have an abundance of it, that opens you to so many possibilities

This is definitely one of the issues that I had, I am a person that gives it all when training thinking that I can reach infinite stamina level (Super saiyan lol) and would end up tired in the first few rounds! Pace, bating and strategy are far more important than wasting energy trying to land power blows every time
@averagebloke44748 жыл бұрын
You're right sir very important just look at Mcgregor vs Diaz 1 pace is critical. Good video as usual.
@pablolambert28178 жыл бұрын
Sonny Bill I guess u could also say that his cardio was terrible as well as how he paced the fight
@saturnine418 жыл бұрын
Pablo lambert. It was multiple things. Definitely Conor head hunting was the biggest mistake. But Diaz is a guy who builds up into a rhythm and we saw him feinting, throwing body punches, the volume strikes, which left Conor swinging at air a lot as Nate was able to bait out the reactions from him.
@pablolambert28178 жыл бұрын
Saturnine I agree it was a big problem but I think in the end if Connor haddent been over confident and ignored nates cardio and ability to work with rythm it would of been very different just like the second fight so ultimately it was really to do with how Connor trained and his ignorance towards Nate's skills

this is pretty good for wrestling too, for me i usually use the first period to figure out how my opponents style, how does he react to my level changes, then once i got all that and i take him down a few times to get used to taking a shot on him, i use the next period to take him down, pull the trigger and go for the pin

jab, cross, left hook, right uppercut. Simple combo that works each basic punch. If you feel up for it then switch the jab to your right hand and cross to your left and so on for the other punches
@Jon-ov4nc8 жыл бұрын
GUYS! he said beginner combos! start with 1-2 combos a jab followed by various rear hand attacks (cross, hook, uppercut, body strike). then do it with 2 jabs. the main detail to focus on is to not pull your jab back for extending the arm, its not a power punch. its a distraction. a lot of combos begin with a jab, if you broadcast your jab you wont even pull off basic 1-2 combos. someone like me will just slip the obviously incoming punch or kick you in the ribs when your guard opens up. and do not, i seriously mean DO NOT move your head left when you throw a right hand or you will violently throw your own face onto the end of someones fist. a skilled fighter wont even throw a punch when you do this, they will just hold their arm out and wait for you to run into it. as you get better make it 3 punches, then 4, then 5.

The trick is finding a pace that works for you. I find it very helpful to go light and fast in the heavy bags, and medium and slow when lifting weights. when sparing, I go medium and slow, then fast and explosive only when I see opportunity, then I reset

Very nice, Shane. I know guys that get really nervous even at sparring, most because they're afraid to get hitted. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be afraid, the fear keeps us alive, but a couple of punches at the face with boxing gloves on won't kill you too. Just relax and have fun. Cheers from Brazil.
@iamrebbie62268 жыл бұрын
yes this is just what i want to hear... pace yourself. everytime we spar, i always give, well not 100% but more energy and i end up catching my breath. i was trying to throw a lot of combos and try to hit my opponent hard but often times i missed or he was able to block and counter attack.

Thanks for the vid! I'm quite bad at pacing myself. I'm basically always tensed up and trying too hard. Even during shadowboxing I throw everything very hard and use a lot of energy slipping and bobbing. It's my next point of focus to tire myself out less, but it's quite hard, because I used to just do cardio and HIIT in which the whole point is to exert yourself as much as possible as quickly as possible to get the max out of your training. Now, I gotta learn to relax again...
@jeremymerkt14498 жыл бұрын
Some people are saying that cardio is more important, and it is, but you need both cardio and pacing yourself because nobody is going to be throwing massive power shots without getting tired.

Shane I've got a question here. It's about weight training. (Strength one. Not the extremely heavy one.) - I've been increasing weights to my regular lifting weights by 15 % for every 2 and a half to 3 months time period and my strength and power has gone pretty high since I've started with this workout plan. Currently , strength wise , I rival many 75 kg to 80 kg fully muscular dudes at my gym while I weigh 65 Kg only and I'm most likely the only one at my gym within my weight category who has the strength to lift this much. No kidding. I've even had long to gym people questioning me whether I'm on steroids or not. Before , I was only ale to bench press 35 kg at medium. Now , almost 5 months later , 52.3 kg at medium . And I never feel strained or like hitting my limit because this process is a very slow strength building process which gradually helps my body to build up strength and durability within an acceptable time period as 15 % weight increase might be little to hear , but still isn't enough to strain you as much as lifting extremely heavy would do. Plus , if you're rigorous with this workout process , then it will benefit your strength in the long run by massive leaps. So two things that I genuinely wanna ask you is , that if I keep on following my weight increasing regime , then do you see me bench pressing , dead lifting , etc. 1000 Kg sometime in the future ? And if so , will that have as much impact on my body's strength , durability and power output as much as it is doing right now ?
