Wait. Hold on a minute. You mean to tell me that showing up to all my interviews for grocery stores and such in a blouse, floral blazer, and slacks was a bad choice? I thought I had to wear those to be taken seriously, that really explains all the people in nice flannel shirts and jeans! Michie you teach me something new every day and I appreciate it!

Sorta reminds me of how mortified I was going to a college interview. Every other guy in that room was ranging from jeans and a t-shirt to full on tracksuit. And there I was... In a cute red jumper, shirt and dress trousers. I had never wanted to evaporate into the air more in my life than that exact moment of stepping into the room.

My issue with retail interviews is always this: at every single one they are always like IS SELLING CLOTHES YOUR DREAM. DO YOU LOVE MAKING BURGERS SO MUCH. IS YOUR PASSION WORKING WITH THE PUBLIC. No. My passion is money. Do you do that here? Do you give the money? 😂 My passion is not starving so as long as you pay me with real money and not rocks we will be good😂

Being a student in my town sucks because when you try to apply for the simplest retail job they always deny you an interview because "oh.. you're 17 and you don't have previous experience. Sorry" so we can't even get experience to get a job..
@BriarBeeBenson
@BriarBeeBenson 5 жыл бұрын
That or they see you're a student and immediately think 'well this person isn't fully flexible 1000% of the time so screw them" or they see you as a potential problem as you will need time off in the future to you know go to your exams and can't work that day. Or every other student in your university is applying to that job and one position gets like 300 applications. Its absolutely nuts honestly.

I know a really minor part of the video but when you said that working retail isn’t worth the mental stress it means a lot to hear that. I work in the food industry and I am really struggling mentally with it, like really really badly. To hear that even though it’s an intro level job that other people struggle with it, it helps

Trying to get a job in my area has been so hard, it's not even funny. I managed to get only two interviews in the last year and I know I failed one of them because they asked about my bachelor's degree and why I was applying for the job. Having a college education and no work experience sucks. Hearing your husband talk about his work horror stories sounds interesting.

I hate group interviews too... There was one place I applied for that makes you sing to customers if they give you tip and I didn't know that when I went to the interview. So they asked me to sing in front of everyone else who was applying. I am shy about people hearing my singing but I tried and ended up embarrassing myself... I walked away from that place...

I would love to hear some of Cody's car job horror stories!! That would be cool ((Also these job interview stories are so weird bc I've only done 3 interviews ever and one of them, the one for the job I currently have, was super weird but not bad))

Man, I'm in post college job interview hell, have been for like a year, and i can't get normal retail jobs to even call me back half the time because I'm "overqualified" :( commissions make life easier while I'm doing this but man it sucks.

Man im so stupid happy that you at least had a good time working at Target cause that place is VERY hit or miss. Unfortunately for me, it was a huge miss and i absolutely hated working there. Granted i subjected myself to the environment and actually stayed for almost 6yrs but I jumped between work areas, hoping that something would be better and it just never was. My target location was notorious for mean, back-stabbing managers who would overwork their staff and had a tendency to make other leaders or managers that they didn't like, disappear. It was a terrible place full of tears and broken backs throughout the whole store. I've seen a handful of people just walk out and never come back and i would always wish that i could be one of them when i was still working there. but man was i ecstatic when i finally left... (sorry for the essay lol)

I remember trying to find a job after graduating in 2011 and there were no jobs in my area. I didn’t have a car so I couldn’t go too far but competition for work was tough. There were like 20-30 people per interview for part time jobs that’s how bad it was. Also yes group interviews are dumb.

Where I live that's a huge problem right now. I have applied for over 300 jobs in the past 2 months with about 5-6 hours a day sunk into filling out application forms and writing these stupid cover letters. It was and is soul draining. I have only heard back from a handful, gotten only about 20 interviews all of which I was unsuccessful. Its just such a waste of time.

I feel like they are supposed to teach people how to sell shit, rather than expecting people to know how to sell something they don't know much about. If someone already knows how to sell things to someone who is fighting them on it they would make more money SELLING CARS!

I had an interview with Chipotle, wasn’t told it was a group interview. So, I showed up early dressed way too nice. There were other people there too and of course I thought they’d do it separately, think again. So they let the group of us in and in comes a girl who isn’t even there to interview but to get food. She’s invited to interview, so I’m already over it. They start the question process and by question 3 they were literally skipping over me for questions. I was pissed off, asked the woman next to me to let me out of the booth and walked out. I did receive a callback asking why I left, and just decided to hang up. Group interviews are total bullshit.

Everytime i hear americans talking about their work interview experiences i feel unbelievably bad for them, because i i got that right in the US you change jobs a lot. And so much strain for maybe one year of job sounds horrible to me. Where i live most people work fulltime and usually stay half a lifetime at the same workplace. Also you are more looked at as an individual in an interview and they care a lot about your previous career, social and work skills.
