The song is inspired by the movie "Johnny Get Your Gun". The video includes clips from the movie. The movie is about a man who is injured in war and loses almost all of his senses. As he struggles with his emotions and his descent into insanity, he fights to maintain his awareness of reality and communicate with the hospital staff

@@katherineschmidt2075 NO the song is the build up to finding out why this person is like this, and it tells you directly in the song what has happened, it is the reveal to the entire song " landmine has taken my sight , taking my speech, taken my hearing, taken my arms , taken my legs , taken my soul , left me with life in Hell" . Need Trump back, doesn't matter if you liked him or not. *NO new wars* were started from 2016 to 2020, people were scared of him and that's exactly what we need now more than ever. Look at all the wars started before 2016 then literally right after Trump left office lmao if that doesn't tell you something idk what will. Just like Putin said "I'll wait until America has a "Weak" President before i attack again" and that's exactly what he did. Thankfully Trump gave Ukraine weapons before leaving office because Russia would've ran through Ukraine week one. And that wasn't the first time Putin has said and done that either. Now we have a "President" selling foreign criminals US soil right next to our military base lmao Biden talks about gun control and then released the biggest gun trafficking terrorist on the planet for some 6itch who said she hates America. You’re exactly right. The song is inspired by the movie Johnny Got His Gun based on the anti-war novel written by Dalton Trumbo in 1939. It’s about the horror of war as exemplified by the young devastatingly injured young man lying in the bed who lost all of limbs, his vision and hearing in a WWI battle. The doctors think him unaware but that’s not true. He’s aware of everything. An extraordinarily hard to read, excellent book and Dalton Trumbo was an extraordinary man.

The Blues was about getting certain feelings out and sometimes it made you dance. Thrash Metal was all about getting out feelings as well. The kind that would keep you up at night or make you explode if you didn't get them out. And we moshed and stood and banged our heads in time to the beat, so in essence, dancing in our own way. We were a pissed off generation. It's why as the years passed you saw gangster rappers and metalheads making music together. The things talked about may have been a little different but the raw aggression and passion was very much the same. As was the prolific lyrics. Thrash moves fast so it needed a ton of lyrics.

7:45 is the Eureka moment. It clicked perfectly for you. Although I probably overplayed it back in the 80's and 90's to the point where it lost its appeal, these reaction videos, 30 years later, allow me to observe other people's first listen and reaction, and rediscover my own appreciation and original love for this song.

This song almost has electricity when it begins to crescendo. Just an accumulation of lightning, fire, emotion and it becomes alive, like a dragon made out of those elements that you’re riding. It’s such a good ride. It’s really hard not to feel those lyrics and hear those drums and guitar go off and not just go along for the ride.

OMG I love you at 1 minute in - "I need the lyrics!" is my constant refrain when being played new songs, especially when it's a musical like Hamilton. "Sure, keep playing it, the music might get me at points, but if I can read the lyrics I might ball my eyes out, because that's where the emotion lives."

The great thing about music is that the greatest songs leave the interpretation up to the listener. Each individual’s interpretation depends on how the song resonates with that person. Just knowing the lyrics and having your own idea about what they’re saying shows your humanity and individuality
