I had an 07 Saturn Ion for a few years then hit two deer too many and didn't wanna keep putting money into it anymore so I found an 07 Scion tC that I really liked .. had that for less than a year when on December 24th I woke up to find that a tree had fallen on it and my insurance ended up considering it a total loss .. after searching for a little while I found a 2013 brz premium down in Philly that I really liked and that's what I ended up buying and driving home .. I'm loving this series and really appreciate seeing these videos ! Thanks !!

I don't know why I like this video series so much but I do! Well maybe it was because 2013 was the first time I bought a new car, a BRZ premium, and seeing them now with so many miles and aged is a bit of a thing I haven't witnessed before.

Great videos, showing the procedure very well and easy. Can't wait for all the other mechanical works including engine work, suspension work and transmission works. This really help me out alot since I own the same car and I don't trust the other mechanic to work on my car. Atleast I know what going on even if I can't do some works by myself.

Take that extra glovebox power plug and put it in the hole that is on the floorboard under the glovebox. It blocks the engine noise from that hose that comes from the intake. Quieter cabin, and you can actually hear the radio.

@MikeWrenches
@MikeWrenches Жыл бұрын
Also now that I think about it, the car is also pre-wired for the round switch in the subaru kit. My kit from toyota did not come with the round subaru button nor the stalk, it came with a real fog button and a new trim piece to replace the trim around the trunk release button. There is a small connector near there for a fog light switch. Fog lights aside, you'll maybe be happy to know the car is also pre-wired for a canbus doodads, as there is a spare "option" connector loose behind the radio that has B+, ACC, ground and canbus.

Thank you for posting this. I have a Forester. Replacing the serpentine belt does look doable to me (if I can convince my wife to let me buy the tools.) The PCV valve and hose look harder. I will probably rely on my mechanic for both these items. I really am influenced by you -- I will try and do more maintenance myself. I'm going to check for a hidden 12v power outlet behind the glove box as well. I do most all the driving for both myself and my wife, and she has a whole array of electrical gadgets that need power, so....

Hi. Thank you for the content. I`m looking for a more general answer. Why did Subaru make a sports car? That isn`t what they are famous for. Is it because of pressure from Toyota? If I`m looking for a small sports car, why should I pick the BRZ when there are so many other options?
@brianeighties4481
@brianeighties4481 Жыл бұрын
The BRZ gets good gas mileage. It’s reliable and parts aren’t too expensive. The factory tires are cheap compared to other sports cars. The tire sizes on other sports cars use super wide tires. Also, the most important thing is they are fun to drive. It feels like it’s on rails. It’s not gonna win a drag race but will be a good car to have on track day or any curvy road.

DELETE THAT KAZOO! =] i kinda hate fake(ish) noise makers. especially if you're going to put an exhaust or boost on the engine, theres zero reason to pipe extra noise into the cabin. mine is plugged up with a 3d printed plug at the intake hose, and all the rest of that junk is gone. also i have a question, maybe you have some insight: why the hell do these things have vacuum pumps? on the manual transmission version, theres no vacuum pump. just a plate over the hole. on mine, the vacuum pump failed, so i made a plate, covered it up, re-routed the vacuum from the intake to the brake booster just like it is on the manual... drove it like that for a few weeks and noticed NO difference at all. i asked a few subaru people and nobody had a real clue, just speculation. it seems weird to me. what would be different about the AT vs MT that they would feel the need for a vacuum pump? its a failure point and seems unnecessary. cool videos, keep em coming! =]
