Overworked, underpaid and undervalued. I call it less "burnout" and more "strategic conservation of mental and physical energy". People are capable of pushing themselves to extraordinary extremes but only if there's something worth striving for. And the growing cost of living with no end in sight, where people working full time can't even afford to rent a flat for themselves, makes working hard seem completely pointless for a large number of the working class population. They took away the carrot from the donkey and this is the result.

What’s is your purpose in life? If you can’t define your own, no outside entity is going to be able to either. “Comparison is the thief of joy” once you figure that out you can focus on what you really want, and not just what you have been marketed or conditioned to like.

I've worked my 60 to 70hr work weeks but don't care to brag about it or talk down to someone else about it. The best move I made was getting out of those jobs and I think if the pharmacist was smart, they would do the same. I always find these types of conversations worthless and pointless. I don't care to prove myself or debate with someone about who's worked more. My goal is to work less, preserve my health, and not have constant stress in my life. I didn't get into a debate with the person. I just held my hand out and said, I really don't want to hear it. I think that offended the person but I simply didn't want to get into a big debate so I ended the conversation.

For three years I gained a ton of weight and got all soft working 60+ hour weeks- backpain, arthritis, eating a bunch of delivery, etc... finally realized if I continued that way I wouldn't physically be able to continue working those long hours. Over the past year no matter what is going on in work and life, I make self-time early in the morning to go lift for an hour and do half an hour of cardio 3-4 days a week and started taking the time to cook healthy lunches and dinners for myself- this is my absolute non-negotiable. If you let your health/body fall to shit there will come a point where you just can't pull long hours anymore. I realized I am a better, more productive employee if I get absolutely fucking yoked and totally swole. But on a serious note, lifting is so fucking cathartic when you are under massive stress/pressure at work. Protecting your health and maintaining a good physique will make you more productive in the long term- don't want to be one of those people who goes out on disability for lifestyle related/preventable diseases in your late 40's or early 50's because then you will be working zero hours per week.

All psychiatric diagnoses are completely subjective and have no legitimate scientific basis. You don’t have to be “born this way” to be deserving of compassion. Placing any expectations at all on any human being in such a twisted and sick world is cruel and inhumane. I’m sorry you can’t accept yourself unless you believe you are inherently broken. You’re not inherently broken. Nobody is.
@Livinginthegrayarea
@Livinginthegrayarea 3 күн бұрын
@@katieandnick4113 did I say I was inherently broken?? 🙋🏻‍♀️ realizing my brain works differently is not to say that I’m broken. Working within ANYONES strengths and weaknesses is key to success. Learning where to put my focus and where not to, is the point. Defining to myself what is trauma and what’s not, has also been life changing. The fact is, the diagnosis is subjective, IF looked at surface level. When broken down and studied, the understanding of it helps those know what to work on and what to appreciate about themselves. Things that maybe others shamed them for. I appreciate you for saying that I’m worthy even without a diagnosis, which to be completely honest, I don’t need a doctors to tell me at this point anyway. Even without the exact label, the components are still there. I fit into the set of criteria for someone who has a lived experience of being high masking Audhd and had dealt with consistent trauma outside of that. When healing, it was EXTREMELY helpful to be able to help MYSELF, by having the knowledge, instead of having to rely on others to help me.

We do get a small example in Iraq and Afghanistan, much easier in my opinion considering the advancements in military comparable to those days, and yet ppl came back all messed up.. now to be very fair, jobs nowadays are much harder mentally, especially corporate and office work,, it became a norm to work for most of your day and just go home to sleep and even then barely make ends meet if it's only one person working in the household. that takes a toll on a person imo

Absolutely not I have been working 80 hr weeks for 6 years and 2 of those years had 1 week holiday working 90 hrs a week. Taking 55 flights for work in a 6 month period at one point all over the world. Never time to relax just work and travel work and travel. Most other people barely finishing their shifts of a standard 40 hr work week. You have no idea what you are talking about or what burnout is.

I'm not against working hard and achieving your goals but the US working class needs a break . I have been a concrete finisher for 26 years and whenever a 3 day weekend would come around , it was always refreshing . Having that extra day is SO needed . I think it's time we reduce the work week to 32 hours . So many of my co workers have missed out on so much of their children's lives and in my line of work there are a lot of failed marriages . Your hours for personal time is limited and what you do have you are exhausted and need the rest . So if you push yourself to do something with the family , you are not truly engaged because of the exhaustion . Folks are not choosing to work 45-60+ a week , they are forced to work OT in order to have the essentials it takes to raise a family and treat them to things of leisure . Folks the system is rigged against the working class . We need to look elsewhere besides Biden & Trump . They are both for the elites before they are for the working class . They get shit done for the elites because they get a kickback . Trump says he is for the working class but he is all talk . He knows how to do the "Anti Woke" speeches but when you ask him about helping the working class , he speaks in circles cause his "buddies" are greedy crooks just like Biden . I say we try RFK Jr . Trump or Biden for another 4 years will be more of the same BS . RFK Jr is the only one who has address this country as an Oligarchy , which it already is . We need stronger Unions , stronger Anti trust laws to break up these monopolies buying up everything and controlling the markets . BlackRock , Vanguard .
