Guitarists of Stevie's otherworldly ability have mastered the techniques so perfectly, they don't have to think about what they're playing, they are actually speaking through their guitar. This is why they make the faces and shapes with their mouth, and often, if you pay attention, the mouth shape mimics the sound. A perfect example of this is at 04:01 when Stevie hits the wah pedal and we get a close-up of him, you can actually see his mouth silently say "wah wah wah wah". There's just so much to talk about when it comes to his playing, but I prefer to just get lost in the amazingness of it. 🎸😀 RIP Stevie 💔

Becomes even more magical when you know the original lyrics💖 "Well she's walking through the clouds With a circus mind that's running round Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams And fairytales That's all she ever thinks about Riding with the wind When I'm sad she comes to me With a thousand smiles she gives to me free It's alright, she said, it's alright Take anything you want from me Anything Fly on, little wing" Perfection. I remember in an interview Stevie said it was Jimi Hendrix that made him want to learn the guitar. It shows! SRV is one of the few guitarist that did Jimi justice. It's not just that he's technical, he has soul. His playing is so mesmerizing and emotional that it brings tears to the eyes. The world lost such a great musician that terrible day back in August 1990. RIP SRV. BTW - the one thing people may miss in this performance is Stevie uses a left hand bridge whammy bar on his Number #1 guitar. That's because Jimi had to use a right-handed bridge whammy bar because they didn't make one for left handed guitarist back in the 60s. That's how Stevie paid homage to Jimi's playing style. Now that's dedication to the craft!

This is a Jimi Hendrix song and SRV kills it. Jimi did this song so well also. I miss both of them, their music was so good. Eric Clapton has called SRV the best guitar player in the world, he also gave that honor to Prince after SRV passed. SRV makes his guitar talk, outstanding! Don't be such a rookie, Mr. V., you gotta learn to let SRV go and deal with the stimulation overload. Clapton said SRV was a channeled guitar player who never made mistakes or got lost. That is high praise coming from the most technical of all guitar players. He is switching or making adjustments to his amps, adding fuzz tone.
