Marc, enjoyed your video. It reminds us that details are important in photography. I think one of the areas of Ansel's work that is so important but not talked about that much are his skills in the darkroom. Development of a photograph is just as important as the taking of a photograph. It was true in his time and its true today. I've been a photographer for 50+ years and I can still remember the darkroom smell and how difficult it was to get the right finish to your work. Adams was obviously a master in the darkroom in a way that I never was and its one of the reasons his photographs are still treasured today. Of course we do this digitally now and it is so much easier but yet I see photographers pay scant attention to their development skills and their pictures suffer from it. Adams knew that you can take a great picture but if you don't fully develop the picture, it loses impact and drama. I see a ton of videos on KZbin that teach photography but little attention seems to be paid to developing you skills in post production. Imparting your look and feel to a picture not only identifies the picture as yours but creates the kind of viewing impact that is critical to your art. Yes, you have to be able to take a good picture (exposure, DoF, framing, composition and tonal balance) are all important and necessary to get you to the point of post processing. That's the icing on the cake. Without it, the taste is bland. Been watching your stuff for years, thanks for helping us advance our skills!
