Right! Voting is at stake, and Republicans are telling people we don't have a democracy we have a republic, so that when they take away voting folks won't be surprised. Climate issues, too, are perhaps more crucial than abortion rights as they affect everything from housing, to inflation, to jobs, to immigration. To women of childbearing years, though, abortion may in fact be the biggest because it affects one's economic status and health for a lifetime.

I saw this in Arequipa, Peru, in 2004, where people were moving to the outskirts of cities from the mountains because they could no longer raise their crops there. They set up squatter communities with cinder blocks and tin roofs. It was overwhelming all the resources of the city -- housing, water, transportation, etc. The huge number of migrants we've had are in large part due to catastrophic climate events in Central and South America, that force people to go where there are jobs and more stable conditions. Yes, it is all related.

I believe Adam Schiff is absolutely correct in saying whether Biden will have made the right decision? Unfortunately, this can only know from a vantage point in the future from which we can look back to this present time with hindsight. It doesn't matter if Biden "believes he can do this" - my mother had 9-10 TIA's (trans ischemic attacks - mini-strokes ) that mirrored exactly how Biden acted in the debate. Then a massive and disabling full stroke- that happened suddenly and which she died from eventually. I've taken care of elderly people for last 20 years - and one stroke, aneurysm, heart attack, fall - can change the entire capacity of a person overnight. Get real, Biden is resisting a full neurology scan and consult, and we have to understand that this denial of diminished capacity is common...
