Chet, that shed could be used for seasonal small storage. Small wagons, snow blower, blades, wheels etc. Anything that can be brought in with a small tractor or with your mini fork lift. Almost need a door at each end, but the shed is too nice to take down.

Air wand, solution for two of today's problems, length of 1/2 inch pipe with ball valve coupled shop air to chase birds out of shop, also works with big vacuum to dig around utility lines. Air wand loosens dirt for the vacuum to suck up. Cheers
@georgepauls4159
@georgepauls4159 Жыл бұрын
Make the waterlines in regions, where you can shut off sections without affecting the whole system, then install ball valve shutoffs to reduce the back flow issues, on the electrical, put in bigger conduit or extra conduit so you can simply add a line when you need one vs digging again (even though the digging is fun!)

I couldn't put up with those birds EITHER !!! My opinion on what to do with that shed is . . tear it DOWN . . you'll never get all the "pig stink" out of it. Being less than eight feet tall, it really limits it's use. With all the other BIG buildings you have, it doesn't look like you need it to store things in anyway, all the equipment seems to have "a home" and like you said, Chet - you could re-grade that area which would make it easier to get things in and out of that other building ( my two cents )
@randyb1890
@randyb1890 Жыл бұрын
I wonder if they could move it. I'm thinking the stink is in the concrete not the steel. Relocate to where you can have doors on both ends, new concrete and block walls 4 feet tall, then put the steel building on top. Instant 8' walls.

Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Good way to test your well. Must be a real good well to run the house and the shop and other outlets snd still have plenty of water. Good show guys. Good thing grandpa was not around. Got that concrete cleaned up good. Looks better. Working around that electric wiring and gas line can be touchy. Be careful. Know you all will do it right. That vac machine is really working good for you on all kinds of jobs. Good show Chet. You all had a busy couple days on these jobs. Busy busy times with all these jobs. Thanks for everything Larsons. Take care and be safe. Thanks. The Iowa Farm Boy.

Construct an enclosed cement ramp from that building down to your chemical storage building. then at the other end of that building, cut into the embankment and pour sidewalls and create a truck dock. That way you won't have the muddy mess in the spring when you are trying to load and unload your chemicals. You would also benefit by having extra storage area for some of your equipment.

Your other hog building is recently repurposed to hold seed and chemical and works well, its very likely your going to be farming more acres each year and will need more seed and more chemical, more storage space. my thought is that you could repurpose that barn for seed tote storage only and the other barn is chemical only ? Would suit a one door barn as you can place totes based on hybrid maturity maybe? Idk, you guys are awesome!

Run at least 1-1/4" water line, the longer the line and the more elbows and fittings you add in reduce the flow. You can always add in a restrictor to limit the maximum flow if by chance you do end up out-flowing the well.

You need another isolate valve on the waterline. I expect you will know that a 1.5 inch water pipe delivers much more than double the volume compared with the 3/4 inch, depending upon the pressure. ( just saying because some viewers might not know that)😊 Take down the hog barn, the smell will always linger in it. Build a usable new barn, maybe even consider photovoltaic panels on the roof.
@olenilsen4660
@olenilsen4660 Жыл бұрын
Double diametre means 4x the volume, but there is also the hydrodynamics, that allows more flow towards the centre of the pipe, or rather, the water would like to stick to the walls, so there is some drag involved. The bigger the pipe, the less drag in % of the area.
