When my kids were little and my husband traveled a lot, I'd try to make dinner interesting for the kids by having a "dumpling night." Pierogi, steamed dumplings, fried dumplings, ravioli, etc. Nearly every culture has a dumpling. These cabbage rolls are very common dish in Balkans and it's called sarma. However, we don't make them in tomato sauce, we rather cook them in their own juice together with sauerkraut. Also, some people prefer to make meat 50:50 mix of pork and beef. We serve it alongside cooked or mashed potatoes. My favourite winter food!
