I'm not too sure of the 100 or 150 are a bad choice. Obviously space is a bit of a problem for the 200, but I always thought the 150 or even 100 are probably as good. The 200 is built for much larger engines than mine, so who knows, it might be that the smaller ones are better filtering for smaller engines.

Good video and very good point. However wrong conclusion. The main thing is that, spraying this staff to air intake has nothing to do with EGR cleaning. Simply because EGR is sucking gas from the exhaust. It is the same as treating the haemorrhoid by applying ‘Anusol ointment’ to your throat. Try to spray it in to hose that connects valve to the exhaust pipe.🤔
@moremolecules
@moremolecules Күн бұрын
Not quite correct. The spray is made to clean the EGR when spraying it to the air intake. I only followed what is written on the can. The stuff is supposed to get burnt and whatever is left from the burnt gasses goes to the EGR, hence some of the things inside should go to the EGR.

The question is a open to atmosphere can reduce pressure???
@moremolecules
@moremolecules Күн бұрын
Yeah, I have not done that, but I doubt it, unless it is not a turbo version. With the turbo version, the pressure gets reduced by pulling the air. So, pretty much when the turbo is spinning the pressure is reduced. With the atmospheric one, there is nothing to pull the pressure out of the crankcase. That is my opinion and can stand corrected of course.

@@tersfilozof4550 Normally there is a flutter kind of, but the intake pipes muffle the sound. Now, if the air intake was off you should be able to hear it. So, some of the intake is leaking. Btw what matters is how EGR opens and closes, i know - it is clogged, it should have problems working fine, right? WRONG.. if it is not opening/closing properly, no matter how it is/is not clean/dirty, you'll have a problem
@moremolecules
@moremolecules 8 күн бұрын
Ha, how about clogged EGR is more likely to stop working or as you have put it opening/closing properly. Carbon build up puts strain on all the parts involved, electric motor, valve itself and this strain is more likely to break it or make it stop working. If it breaks/stops in the closed position it should be ok, but in the open it will not be too good.

One thing worth mentioning would have to tell us how recently the fuel filter was changed. Some diesel engines have reduced fuel flow with clogged fuel filter that doesn't prevent engine from running but reduces max performance. And obviously a clogged fuel filter might affect this measurement, too, especially if the fuel has different temperature during the tests.
@moremolecules
@moremolecules 4 күн бұрын
The fuel filter was relatively recently changed before that test, it has not been changed for the duration of the test. The fuel from the filter goes to the high pressure pump, so this does not restrict or affect the test. It is the return (excess) fuel that comes back from the injectors.
@MikkoRantalainen
@MikkoRantalainen 4 күн бұрын
@@moremolecules If the filter was relatively new, then you don't have problems. I'm asking because it's not unhead of that the filter is so clogged that the high pressure pump is failing to get enough fuel to the input pipe and as a result, fuel delivery is starved. If you keep adding additives without replacing the fuel filter, the results may be affected by the filter if it's the new the bottleneck of the whole system. One repair shop also claimed that some fuel filters by low quality 3rd parties limit the fuel flow even as new compared to OEM quality parts. I don't know if it was just marketing talk in reality.

17:35 I think it would be better to measure ml per stroke instead of per minute because if the engine idle is even a bit different, it will change results of this measurement a lot. That would require having a scan tool with ability to record RPM during the test, though.
@moremolecules
@moremolecules 4 күн бұрын
The measurements were always on hot engine, 30-40min drive, idle should be relatively the same. I agree that it can be done even better, but no one has the time to perfect this test, especially me unfortunately.

Firstly I would like to thank you for producing such videos. They have helped me fix my 307 1.6hdi and understand how it's components work. I’m curious as to why you continue to use these cars. Both are quite old and do not meet current pollution standards. Moreover, there seems to be a lot of criticism for the x07 (307,407,207 etc) generation cars, which I personally find quite absurd. Is it because you simply enjoy them or you are a great mechanic and they keep on running.
@moremolecules
@moremolecules 12 күн бұрын
Haha. I like them, the x07, I have no idea why they get a lot of criticism. They are great cars, also quite cheap. Now most of these review, if one can call them reviews are biased, people would say whatever someone pays them to say or whatever biases. Everyone says that HDis are bad, but they are pretty reliable engines. Now it depends on how people treatthese cars, say if you have HDi so to bridge you to another car, you would not take care of it and engine will go haywire. Now, why I am using these cars. Well, I started with Peugeot Partner and liked it. My wife needed a car, so I bought another Peugeot. I already knew a lot about Peugeot and had the software to check and do stuff with it. Now, most people will not want to buy them, but the 307, petrol is really good car. Simple engine and not much one would expect to go wrong. Also, I am not a mechanic at all, my proper work job is nothing to do with cars or engineering. I simply enjoy fixing my cars. To be honest, I rather enjoy that other people do not want these cars and I got mine very cheap indeed. Parts are pretty cheap as well. So, all the better for me when everyone else thinks they are rubbish. To add, the Peugeot 307 1.6 petrol version passes all LEZ/ULEZ and so on, so within all current pollution standards.

Think about it, a spray can is full of gas. It sprays very little product, and in a very fine mist. That mist gets sucked straight through the system at high speed. 90% of it never touches the carbon. If 10% hits the carbon, what effect can it have? The answer is zero. There is no possibility that a tiny amount of chemical can remove hard carbon. You can warm the engine, spray in bursts, drive around, do what you like, but the chemical getting onto the carbon remains the same. A tiny amount. You cannot alter that. I hope that don't waste any more money on snake oil. You could test it by removing the EGR and soaking the cleaner directly onto the carbon. If it has no effect then spraying it down the intake certainly won't. Apparently removing the EGR and soaking it in oven cleaner for a short while works better than anything.
