For all intent and purposes, Luffy is still a rubber human. He only used his rubber power all like 80% of the story. It's not like the devil fruit was automatically OP. Luffy still had to work insanely hard for it. Him finally unlocking the true potential of his fruit is just bringing that rubber power to its extreme.

Luffy didn't get retroactively op because of the reveal. Up until he awakened is fruit, it really did just make his body rubber. And no, he can't literally do anything that he imagines, it's just that, since he can stretch his body however he wants, he can fight so freely that he can "fight in any way he pleases" and is "only limited by his imagination".

That's a common misconception. The Hito Hito would not bestow enlightenment if a human ate it. It was a fan translation of the SBS and it was not likely as accurate as the actual statement Oda said. I'm not sure about the actual translation, but it was open enough to interpretation that the mistranslation was understandable.

Oda basically said it enhanses a person's best qualities. A smart person becomes smarter, a strong person becomes stronger and an agile person becomes more agile. Which makes sense with how chopper uses it. But yeah it was pretty vaugely put in the original I can see how it could have been inturpereted that way.

Well~ Uta's Sing Sing Fruit is a bit more than "putting people to sleep" since, yes it does put people to sleep, it also traps them in a dream world where the Devil Fruit user is able to manipulate anything in that would but only as long as the user is awake and if the user dies than the people are left in that world forever. Also she can manipulate the sleeping bodies as living puppets and have them attack people.

I used to be on the same page as you about the Nika reveal. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized that Nika is synonymous with freedom which is what Luffy is all about. In the hands of just about any other character in the series, I don't think the fruit would have awakened nor would it have been nearly as effective as with Luffy. From the very beginning of the series, the possibilities of the Gum Gum Fruit were only limited by the user's imagination, and that much has not changed, but with it's awakening, Luffy's imagination is completely unfettered and unhinged. Also, if you go back through the series you'll see a lot of allusions to Luffy being associated to the sun or to dawn. Even the very first arc is called Romance Dawn. Luffy was always meant to be tied to the sun god from the very beginning of the series. Honestly I feel bad for doubting Oda when that reveal first took place.

Basically, if the user can elicit any emotional response in the target, it will work. The reason why Kanjuro joined Orochi was not because he was his relative... Idk why, but I wanna hug Big News Morgans. He just looks fluffy. Also Luffy unlocking Gear 5 is actually cool, because he is literally Rubber Hose. That's the whole point. He defies physics. And it's not like Luffy was immune to death, but also the Nika Fruit has always made him obey the rule of funny. He adds plenty of his crew based on them being funny or interesting, and even him eating the fruit followed the rule of funny, in which Shanks panicked as Luffy casually ate the fruit in spite. Nika having it's own will doesn't mean Luffy wasn't the only one to eat the fruit, the Fruit only really ran from the World Government the whole time. Sure he was prophesized to be JoyBoy, but also JoyBoy failed the first time to bring freedom to everyone. It's not a guaranteed thing. Nika could still realistically fall again, at least in terms of in universe. He still can drown, still can be weak to sea stone, and still has the cutting attack weakness. Plus, the way I see a lot of it, Luffy makes anything rubber now. It's just like an extension of a paramecia and a zoan together. Plus there are four probable God Fruits in total, so it's not like Luffy is the top dog. Stronger Haki can still hurt him, and if Laff Tale is seastone, then what can Luffy do there? I mean, I'm into big bears like Blackbeard but I'm more into Kaido, and Oda is probably not gonna have anyone like Blackbeard anyways cause his appearance isn't his most repelling feature. If his personality is a factor in the Love Love Fruit, it's effectiveness would tank even more. Boa Handcock is Medusa tho.

Actually Pell (Bird guy in Atabasta) would’ve died. But a day day or so after that chapter, 9/11 happened and Oda figured that he could not let a person die by suiciding with a bomb at the time, hence why he retroactively let him live.

There is a certain comment in the original video that triggers me so. The sea isn't the weakness, it's being submerged in water. Devil fruit users don't get paralyzed when they touch sea water. So it's dumb when he says "it's interesting that the Devil fruit can affect the sea, even though it's the biggest weakness of Devil fruits." It's not. It's as dangerous as a normal pool.

From what we understand Blackbeard used his devil fruit to suck the devil fruit power out of Whitebeard, negating the devil fruit eating process & simply taking the power the fruit would give you if you had eaten it. Think of it like All For One from MHA except he can't give people devil fruit powers.

The reason Pell wasn’t killed off was because the episode where he died from the bomb was going to air right after the 9/11 bombings and the creators thought it would be insensitive to have a character die that way soon after a real life tragedy. In the manga they never show pell at the end of alabasta, it only happened in the anime. Which is why no one who knows the real story criticizes pells survival.

So obviously Kanjuro's motivation isn't just being family to Orochi, instead Kanjuro's entire existence is performances, he does not have a personality of his own beyond wanting to belong and perform. The character of the retainer Kanjuro was a blessing - a near life-long performance that was of course all the more convincing the more time passed.

it makes sense that dinosaurs would be a type of dragon because the word dinosaur wasn't made til the 1840s while dragon was from the 13th century. that means there were several hundred years where dinosaurs would basically be thought of as dragons. in fact iirc research papers and such used both of them interchangeably for a while.

Blackbeards Yami Yami no mi has the ability to suck in the Devil fruit from others which is why he can hurt ace but since the Devil fruit is bound to the user it is temporary unless the user dies then Blackbeard can absorb the fruit into himself gaining the new fruit, He can also grant another person with another Devil fruit by sucking in the fruit from the dead user to the other person.

One thing that makes the chop chop fruit actually really good so far is that Haki infused blades, which seem to be the hard counter to nearly another Logia and Paramecia Fruit users regular attack immunity, don’t work on it. It is so far unknown if this is a Haki technique Buggy Developed or a natural part of the Chop Chop fruit. If it the latter though, even some of the best swordsman and snipers in the world, with incredible Haki, would not be able to actually hit him. The only attacks that do work are blunt strikes, but if Buggy actually trained for once, that weakness could be countered immensely, especially if the way to feed items devil fruits is ever revealed. If anyone learns how it’s done, a chop chop fruit user could potentially infuse an item of theirs with something like Blackbeards Snipers Fruit, the one that teleports.
