Sara wrote this and Morissette did it justice and then some. I've now heard from 5-6 different singers all of whom have contact with this production, and guess what, they are all really, really good. I love Sara's version, well because she wrote it. Then there is Jesse Mueller whose version is very gutsy and gritty. Then Shoshana Bean who is more delicate but intense that bubbles to the surface at point in her performance. Still given these very fine performances, I'll take Morissette. I just feel it more with her than the others. Maybe if I listened to the others as often as I listen to Morissette I might have a different list. But I didn't and I don't. Mori just kills everything she sings. I don't know how long it takes for her to prepare a song to be good enough to take it to the stage, or recording booth. But by the time she does she has so down that she appears to be very relaxed and casual. She is in control and we can all relax and let her drive. Thanks for your reaction, and it's funny everytime you hi-lighted a segment I was right there making my acknowledgement noises. I too was going OH........! when she would hit that note just right, so I was doing that often. I also added my tears basically throughout the performance. And this was my 10-12th time I have heard her sing this.

Sara's original and Morissette's cover are both beautiful in their own right but let me explain why I fell for Morissette's version more. In Sara's official music video, the background drama as well as her singing both play with your emotion to get that effect. In the case of Morissette, there's no background drama playing other than her standing there alone with her own emotion and soul in full display. Her storytelling (interpretation of the song both emotionally and vocally) is brilliant. I watched the drama unfolded right before my eyes just by looking at her singing her heart out.
