She may have a diva voice (Thank God) but does she act like a diva?? This young lady just climbed 900+ steps (talking along the way, which I loved), took a few moments, at the top, to regain her composure and without makeup, different clothes (which most would probably demand), continues with finishing the rest of this perfect video!! She is ONE OF A KIND and deserves the world's praise and love!! Gosh I'd love to meet her one day!! But alas, probably and most likely in my lifetime, will never happen!! She will own the musical world if stupid people would stop being stupid and give her the exposure she deserves!!

Morissette convinced me to get onto a Philippines based social media site called Kumu, where people do live streams. I've found a few good singers there, but it's crazy how they transition so seamlessly between English and their native language.

Morissette is one of the most versatile singers I've come across in a long time, I'm so happy that I found her. And Adonis Tabanda, the guy who is playing the string bass here, is a badass. That's the guy who came up with the arrangement for the acapella version of Rise Up where he also did the bass and vocal percussion parts. He also played electric bass and sang lower background harmonies on Fly Like A Bird. I like the saxophone here too.

Bruh, you’re one of the best reactors in KZbin because talent knows talent..... Morissette is one of those singers that come along every 5-10-20 years that can transcend virtually any genre of music because of her vocal agility, tone, range and power. I love your reactions because they are honest and heartfelt. I’m here for the rollercoaster of emotions that a Morissette rendition of any song brings...... 😎🎤🤜🏼🤛🏼

FYI, This song Moon River was the soundtrack for a classic movie Breakfast At Tiffany's in 1961. It was composed by the great Henry Mancini ( Cleveland, Ohio USA ). He has a lot of Jazz compositions prominently between 1946 to 1994. Another music score you might recognize is the theme music for the movie The Pink Panther.

It was a great arrangement for the mash-up. The approach using a double bass & a vocal which has almost no effects (very little reverb/delay), it had the feel of the 50's & 60's. Part of the mash-up was "Moonriver" and it was composed by Mancini in 1961 for the movie "Breakfast in Tiffany" and sung by Audrey Hepburn. Here is the story for "USAHAY". This was composed by Police Col. Greg Labja in the 50's when he courting his beautiful wife, a school band majorette. Col Labja is from Sibonga, Cebu while ( Mori is from Mambaling, Cebu). Col. Labja pursued his wife Noemi Ortega and finally got married and settled in Pantukan, Davao del Norte. However, he passed away at the age of 59 (April 18,1991) he should have been 88 by now. There was then a claim by Nitoy Gonzales for the royalties of the song USAHAY asserting he composed it. There ensued a long legal battle by the heirs of Col. Labja & Gonzales. Finally, in 2010, the supreme court ruled, that, it was Col. Labja's composition. It was later found out that Gonzales was able to get a musical score of Usahay when Labja was playing it with his band and also taped it. They made it right, Col. Greg Labja opened the song with a saxophone as an intro before singing it. I'm proud of Morissette for displaying a proud & perfect Cebuano accent. Cebuano dialect is spoken in the central part of the Philippines, while the national language is Tagalog

Sorry, I know this is 2 years late Nick but I remembered this Moon River/Usahay mashup. She did this on the Phoenix 10th Anniv concert. I bought tickets to my siblings. She was practically sobbing when she sang this one. Every Bisaya knows the Usahay song, esp the older folks. Its never been sang like this when this creature from out of this world did her own unique version of these classics.

@Alumnus_SFSLL874 жыл бұрын
Hey @ThatSingerReactions, yeah that's why the title of the original video from Mori's YT channel says Mash-up because she's mashing up the English classic song "Moon River" with the Cebuano language 1960's classic song "Usahay" - which means sometimes in English. Cebuano language (also alternatively referred to as Bisaya) is Mori's mother tongue. Tagalog/Filipino is not Mori's mother tongue but she knows it just like every other Filipino citizen who studied in the country. Tagalog/Filipino is taught (mandatory) in elementary and high school.

Moon River is a classic, written by Henry Mancini, and sung in the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's by Audrey Hepburn in 1961, it was best known for being the late great Andy Williams theme song. He had a GOLDEN voice... kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnyXoaCAhputna8 . Usahay, is a old song, from Morissette's Cebuana roots, in the Bisaya dialect. She gives a back story in the SHOW MORE. Dave Lamar is the one harmonizing with her and did the cinematography for this. Adondis her musical director is on double bass.
