@@grld9466 Yeah I kinda notice it as well. Her written EP songs don't have the great exposure to Filipinos as much as her Tagalog songs like "Akin Ka Na Lang". Maybe because the songs' flow is not the typical OPM genre? Her EP is so underrated as it could be
@yoojin3877 Жыл бұрын
@@second1387 As an international fan, Filipino fans honestly baffle me sometimes 😅🤔 They complain about wanting original music, then when they get it, they pay more attention to the covers. Like I feel like I still see people request her covers more than her original stuff. Perhaps this is done, at least in part, in an attempt to "prove" that a singer is talented enough to measure up to the original. And I get that, but tbh I also feel like it's counterproductive sometimes. Her originals are outstanding, and I'd much rather watch Naririnig Mo Ba or Will You Stay (for example) than say, her JLo medley or her Beyonce medley. And I'd bet that a lot of international fans, vocal coaches and the like feel the same way. But I also think it's clear that ever since she became an independent artist, she's been making music she wants to make instead of putting out music tailored to chart well. I love and respect that about her. She's breaking free from the mold of what singers like her are typically expected to do.
@second1387 Жыл бұрын
@@yoojin3877 Yup, totally agree. Morissette showing her versatility is what makes her different from the rest of the Filipino singers. Like just what Mori said in an interview, low notes is not something that makes an impact in the country which makes her low notes so underrated! Like take "Love You Still 🌊", some notes there are so deep way deeper than an ocean. And then here comes "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" where her rendition never ran out of belts and made so much impact😳 But I believe there is always a huge percent of the population that would love the flow/genre of her EP songs if only they knew about it. Like talking about exposure, you can find at least dozens of karaoke🎤 machines in each streets of the Country🇵🇭, and based from me, I've never seen a karaoke machine that has her EP songs which makes the exposure lesser than the rest. The EP songs were also never been a theme song in a TV Series unlike her other songs. The exposure is just what is needed so that the Filipinos that deserves her will be notified. That's why I love to suggest her EP first to reactors so that if the reactors made a reaction to the EP songs, we know Filipinos love to see reactions to Filipino singers so the reactions would boost the exposure of her songs😉👌 And if there are Filipinos bashing her with negative comments telling her to write her own music, just slap them to reality with her EP songs lmao😂😂😂

I have said this many times about Morissette and I will say it again - her lower register is so good and underrated. In my opinion it’s the one thing that distinguishes her from the rest of the female Filipino singers and indeed the world! The surprise ending was probably in my opinion arranged by David to showcase Morissette’s amazing powerhouse vocals. A truly stellar performance. Again appreciate you for taking time to share your thoughts on this performance. 👍
@reubenr4289 Жыл бұрын
It’s more than one thing that separates her to her peers as well as the veteran legends she looked up to in her early years AND is now part of that Philippines music royalty. Morissette if you’ve watch her over the years to the way she performs with the large audience, communicating with them in delivering the song with such power/emotions/articulation (like a great storyteller), but most of all, her gestures with her positioning and movement around the stage (and into the audience for that matter), as well as her arm/hand movements AND above all - her eyes! Her versatility is so far and beyond at this stage of her career. Oh I’m sure she’ll be a household name throughout the world (though she is now in part but increasingly more is what I mean). Personally I’m not even going to spend time and energy for if and when that happens as I just want to sit back and watch and listen to her perform. Even after four years since I discovered her on KZbin there’s still so much more I haven’t seen. Thank you Marc Daniel, for spending time to watch and react to The Queen and Asia’s Phoenix of our time. Look forward for more from you.

@@reubenr4289 I happened to see these comments and i agree a hundred one percent! If your only metric of a singer is someone who can hit high notes (or can round up all the vocal tricks) then there's one almost in every street corner in the Philippines. But this singer is different! She can make you feel the song HER way! She can make a grown man cry and she can make your jaws drop on the most generic song that you've heard covered a million times. The reason I followed her is because I have never experienced hearing anybody like her.

Great reaction, Marc! Regarding the growl onsets, I think it's intentional because she places those growls in the exact, same place as her previous performances of this song. I do think that it's become second nature for her to execute these growls or squalls (by rattling her arytenoids), and I can tell that she loves to incorporate it as part of her signature sound. Regarding her vocal breaks ("vocal cry" or "squeak"), these high frequency tones are very natural to her voice as evidenced by the fact that it naturally comes out even when she talks. It may have something to do with the nodules she developed when she was much younger, which affected the anatomy of her vocal cords. This may also explain why she has this signature breathiness to her tone. As for the way she executed that breathy, falsetto trill for the word, "take" (1:23), this is certainly a technique that she often uses and is a part of her signature style. Usually, that word is sung with a clean chest voice tone, but Mori is always very playful with her approach. She loves to create dynamics by switching into a variety vocal registrations (reminiscent of a 'prime' Mariah Carey), seamlessly switching between a spectrum of heavy tones, medium tones, and light tones to produce her brand of vocal tapestry.
@WOW-ng8sy Жыл бұрын
Hi Joey. For people hearing Morissette for the first time or people that are not familiar with the dynamics of her instrument you always seem to come up with the perfect explanation my friend. Well said as always. 👏👍
@yoojin3877 Жыл бұрын
👏🏻👏🏻😊 Re: breathiness, if you mean she intentionally incorporates as a stylistic choice, then yes, I agree with you. If you mean breathiness as in a chord closure problem, I personally don't see it that way. I don't think it's the same situation as Mariah, where her nodules created breathiness she couldn't control at times.
@JoeyAndamo Жыл бұрын
@@yoojin3877 I fully agree with you. Mori doesn't have a problem with her cord closures at all. She reminds me of Luther Vandross, who has this natural breathiness to his tone.
