I do basically the same thing, sometimes I add balm or butter..depends on the day and my mood and at the same time you recommended it after blow drying. Same kinda deal when I use the spray bottle. Usually I shower at night though and add butter after, sometimes blow dry at night to make it easier for the morning as well.

My mornings are a more get up and go, I hate it but I have to drive up to an hour depending on the jobsite and starting at 6am or 7am. I get up and just throw some water in the beard, pat dry and comb it then throw some oil in. Comb and/or brush then hit the road. However my after work or before bed routine is the same with the addition of a butter.

I am a Public Safety Officer at a private University, so I need to wash my med/long beard every night to get any Coronies out of it. Baby Shampoo to clean. 99% natural, no sulfates and no parabens, hair conditioner right after for duration of shower - then, regular oil application after I get out. Breaks my heart to use non-beard products every evening, but I gotta make sure I keep the family safe. After two weeks, I haven't noticed any damage to the beard - here's hoping.

Good to see I'm not the only one who has to worry about dodging their beard on the underside dry! This all is roughly my afternoon/evening routine as I'm not a morning person, so it's got my vote! A little bit before your "Amazon wood combs" video came out, a handle-less wide tooth one of mine managed to take a dive off the counter and lost a tooth so I might relegate that to in-shower duty, as that's the only step I don't yet do. Well, that and replacing my comb and hair dryer with something along the lines of what you use - they seem like they do the trick quite well! Great content as always, and hope y'all are staying safe!

My routine is a bit simpler. My beard is a bit shorter too. I usually don't shower in the morning (I shower at evening instead, after workout.) So what I do is I wash my hands, then put in beard oil, then beard balm, then brush it in all angles for a few minutes, and that's about it. I will likely change it up as I go though. I don't do much styling because I know that as soon as I start moving, putting on jacket, etc, my beard will be poking in all directions again. So I'm just letting it be wild for now.

I watched this a couple of times along with your other video of your routine, which was a year before this one. I follow the same method, shower wash condtion, etc. Use the blow dryer exactly what you did. Same angles you did held it the same way.Have the Chicago combs you have. Use beard octane LCW, but follow up with the strongest beard balm (Luxurious Bastard). And a boar bristle brush. Beard looks good for about 5 minutes. All nice kept together. Then the beard is all over. Flyaways going north and sotuh this way and that, etc. Don't want to use gel or hairspray, which are unnatural, but those things will hold your beard but are not good for it. Also, combingafter wetting my beard with cold water. It feels like it tangles more if you comb when wet versus drying. But I just noticed that so will see. Also I dint think the pick help it's just messes up your beard when you comb down beard is still all over. Since you picked it out it keeps that shape.

@@DanCBearded I agree I have been growing my beard since the beginning. Over 13 years of trial and error, lol. I know before you mentioned it wa my routine it doesn't look like that's the case. It's kind of the same since the beginning actually. Going back 13 years ago started with gel dad use hair spray. Then I went to Natural things like beard balm and thats when hold when out the window. It seems only things that can give you a solid hold are gel or hairspray. Maybe if I get a beard straightener, but I'm weary of using that on my beard, lol.

What do you think of keratin hair sprays? I once saw a bearded man with a huge beard in a video recommending it, I don't remember which one, but his routine was, wash, condition, oil, keratin spray and then blow-dry, in theory it strengthens the hair and makes it easier to style . Hiya teach. I do pretty much the same routine (learned from you) but minus the slightly aggressive under beard combing. I have to be slower and start combing out from the ends and work my way up. I use the Bayliss Ceramix Pro myself. I hate the controls and might get the one you have but Baybliss is top dog in this category as far as I am concerned. Also, you still have to get a Natureboy wooden comb. The best purchase I have ever made! Better than a motorcycle. Also because of you and my awesome barber of awesomness I get nothing but compliments on my beard. Being a student of yours for a couple few years I have a request. Can you give us a home tutorial of trimming the stache? Getting bored of all the same videos. Maybe you can film your next trim for us?

Dan, thanks so much for all your work with these videos! I’ve recently been experimenting with a blow dryer again on my beard. I originally didn’t think it was really doing anything. Come to find out, I just wasn’t getting enough tension w/ my ox horn comb. I switched to a round boar’s hair brush and make a lot of difference. Now I’m an oil & balm or butter in the morning kind of guy. You said to not apply butter till the end. Since the beard is dry at that point doesn’t that mean the butter won’t “adhere” properly like when it’s damp?

So I shower after work and wash and/or condition my beard then. I'm a chef so my beard gets pretty dirty everyday. I'm starting to add in a morning shower as well to rinse out the butter from my bedtime routine. Should I wash and/or condition my beard then as well?
@DanCBearded
@DanCBearded 3 жыл бұрын
Nope, I would just wash at night. The morning can be for rinsing! Unless you drool, then wash

@@DanCBearded what if my night butter has beeswax in it, such as Detroit Grooming? Then wash the next morning? Using Live Bearded wash right now since it's a daily wash.

Hi Dan I'm new to the bearded community with a 2 month beard and watch and recently subscribed to your channel. I was wanting to ask if my routine is doing right by my beard. The 2 days a week I wash my beard in the shower is with The Beard Struggle shampoo & conditioner. After I get out I apply beard oil followed by beard butter 5 mins later as you said. Now since I shower only at night and do this. I wash the beard butter and oil out of my beard in the AM only with warm water in the sink then apply my beard oil in the morning. So is it OK that I wash my product out with only warm water when I switch from morning to night routine? And my comb is a wood comb an boar hair brush that I use is this all ok and good for my beard? Some tips and advice would be greatly appreciated thanks Dan.

That all sounds perfectly fine! Nothing that sounds the alarm there. Part of the journey is just trial and error, to figure out what is best for you. Welcome to the channel!

Awesome video once again ! My morning is mostly the same except no shower I use that spread bottle trick that we talked about to wet my beard and the oil and blow dry ! I can’t tell you the last time I used butter or balm during the day unless it’s a weekend or day I’m not doing anything and I’m just doing a condition of the beard with butter

When you actually clean the round brush how do you wash it. Do you drop the whole thing in a bowl of soap. I saw the vid on the boars head. Brush. Wondering how you clean the round brush

Why a cold rinse? At the end of a warm shower, I would need a good reason for a cold rinse.

Thanks for showing your routine. Your beard is longer than mine, and you take more time to blow dry it than I do. I use beard butter on mine right after the oil, before drying. It works for me, but what would be a reason you don't use it them? Also, your beard is tops, one of the most awesome I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dan. Enjoyed your video. I am from the UK and can't use your links as they are American based sites. My routine is similar to yours in the morning and agree on being damp to brush as dry brushing tears alot. I have just ordered a ox horn comb to try over my wooden one. My beard is around 9 inch currently (straigthened) How do you sleep? I'm a front sleeper and I put a hair bobble in mine for bed else it tugs between my face and pillow and wondered if you had tips for beards when sleeping ?

I do Oil only in the morning after a shower before work and in the evening after a shower, before bed, i only use butter. Do you recommend both oil and butter in the evening or is Butter on its own fine?

Depends if you shower or not. If you shower in the evening, yes I strongly recommend oil after every shower

Do you trim your moustache or do you let it it grow over your lips? Do you have trouble eating with it? Doesn't your beard lose its texture during the day without balm on it? Do you use balm at night? I really admire you! Great, awesome beard. I had one about that long for awhile, but found it harder to keep in place. Keep it growing!
