Melissa, you are a fantastic coaching communicator! I’m a personal trainer and I use movements like this, traditional, stretches, and end range strength training with my self and clients. My question is this how do you manage expectations around the time it takes to see progress? I’ve noticed in a movement like the cat cow. Somebody might feel a reduction of stiffness instantly. Where the shoulder and hip circles often feel much harder from much longer period of time. we always want to keep our clients engaged and seeing so what kind of timeline do you give them to see progress? Thanks for the great video!

Really clear video, as well as your individual CARS breakdown videos. Notice the Thoracic CAR (not the segmental cat/camel) is not shown. Is there a separate video I missed? When I took FRC it was part of the Morning Routine. Curious, and grateful for your video tutorials!

Can anyone explain me why this routine is "better" than other mobility/flexibility routines on KZbin please ?
@MelissaRayFitness2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say that this is a 'better' option than other routines you find. I would say this is an option that takes your joints through a range of motion that you own and is a great start for most people. If you find or have another routine that you like and works for you, great! Just sharing what I do and what I do with my clients. Thanks for watching!

Hey guys, great stuff! I've been going to an FRC certified trainer and they taught me the beginning movements pretty much exactly like this. Do you have any spinal CAR tutorials?
@MelissaRayFitness5 жыл бұрын

Oh and 100% agree about FRC, I've been following Spina for many years and great to see the adoption of his work. It's made a nice difference so far, hope to learn more! Might try to find a class in Manhattan actually.

For the Cat Stretch....Josh has the top of his feet flat on the ground, and Melissa has the ball of her feet flat on the floor....does it matter which?
@MelissaRayFitness2 жыл бұрын
great question! The position of the feet does not matter. Many people may not have the toe mobility to have their feet flexed so flat foot is fine. I feel more stable with my toes tucked so that is natural to me. Whatever is more comfortable! Thanks for watching!

What is the purpose of keeping tension?
@MelissaRayFitness2 жыл бұрын
When you keep tension in your body it allows the body part you are working to be moving through a more honest range of motion. If you use little to no tension in the rest of the body you are more likely to 'cheat' the movement with other body parts. thank you for watching!
@chloemae50084 жыл бұрын
I would love a slower walkthrough, fast videos like this actually give me anxiety and end up causing me to hurt my joints by moving too quickly through the motions. Kinda hard and awkward to pause a video while your trying to rotate your knee joints LOL
@MelissaRayFitness4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! We did this video mostly for our personal training clients to follow who already know the routine. I do have a breakdown video of each individual joint on my channel. In the individual videos I take Josh through a few reps with a few different views and coaching cues. I am also happy to make an additional full routine video that goes much slower through each movement. Let me know if you have any other questions and stay tuned for more videos:) thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment.

You can adjust the playback speed in KZbin, maybe that would help. Just press the three dot menu at the top right of the screen.

Here’s a helpful yoga video that focuses on fitness and flexibility and leaves out the religious/spiritual stuff that you are looking to avoid. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJS3oap7bJ56f9U
@Mike-hw5jp4 жыл бұрын
Avoiding yoga because you're christian is like avoiding stretching because Hindus and Muslims practice it. Absolute ignorance. I bet you pray for people across the world and think you're actually helping too. One day the human race will make a leap forward and leave behind this nonsensical way of thinking
@SB-gm5yd4 жыл бұрын
@@Mike-hw5jp because The Bible states that Christian's should avoid practices that involve spiritual aspects from other beliefs. Stretching is fine as it's for the body rather than spirit.

Thank you for the feedback! I have had several requests to make a slower version. I originally recorded this for my current clients in my gym who already know the exercises. I do have individual breakdowns of each CAR on my channel which may be helpful. Happy New Year!

@@MelissaRayFitness Great thanks, I will check them out. one thing i have noticed with all functional range videos and instructors is that you all (obviously) have advanced ranges of motion. It would be great to see videos of newbies working through so we can see a more realistic view if how we are moving/supposed to move in the early stages. One of the more frustrating things is watching someone and not even coming close to their movements, therefore assuming you are doing things wrong or worried about doing them wrong and causing injury.
