I think not. American mothers would be packing lunchboxes full of Twinkies and chips and preservatives and highly concentrated sugar filled juice. Sandwiches made of white bread. All pre made. tT is rare in the western world that mothers prep meals like this for their children's day at School.

I definitely do not put as much effort into food preparations in the mornings (german mom living in france). Most of the time we just have something really quick without putting a lot of thought into it. But i definitely want to improve and change that. I find toukos kitchen very inspiring. No more excuses for me😊

My goodness!!!! The lunches were beautiful!! A work of art. Here in the States, if a child gets a lunch packed at home at all, it’s usually a PBJ, some fruit, perhaps some chips and a drink. The breakfast was also very interesting and delicious looking. To do all of that AND get them out the door on time is quite a feat. Again, this is a remarkable woman. Hats off to her!!!

I was going to say the same thing, how American moms just pack peanut butter sandwich for kids with an apple or chips, lol! 😅. We don’t have time to do all of this, especially if we work! She must wake up 2 hrs before the kids in the morning to do all of this! But it looks delicious, I might try something similar with the pork/cheese roll. Thank you for sharing! 🤗

I live in the states and my son lunches are always top of the line…lol. Usually dinner from night before. Curried chicken with white rice…fruit…home made dessert such as banana pudding or chocolate pudding and his choice of two natural juices..water or Gatorade. Next could be seared red spicy salmon over mash potatoes with asparagus…fruit and his drink. I cook at least 6 days out of seven so no..,all of us moms in the states are not lazy.

Sometimes moms with 3 children ride a bicycle, dropping off their kids at school while preparing themselves for work. I hope moms wherever they are always feel happy and content. :)

I miss those hectic days now. My twins are in college and suddenly I have all this time in the morning! Of course it was hard and stressful managing getting them ready, packing lunches, and making a good breakfast all while I got ready for work, but it is hard to adapt to no stress all of a sudden. Their school did not offer any real hot lunch, so I packed their lunches all through upper school as well. I switched to Japanese-style breakfasts when my children were about 10, I think. Their lunch break wasn’t until 13:00, and their school day started at 07:45, so even with a substantial snack break mid-morning, they were starving by 13:00. Switching from eggs and toast to miso soup, rice, and fish seemed to keep them full longer and made them less fidgety. They still had oatmeal and cream of wheat, and eggs sometimes, but we ate a lot of fish and rice. The only thing I hated about it was all the dirty dishes I had to face when we came home after school and work. Don’t get me wrong, American breakfasts can be both healthy and satisfying, but for some reason, rice, soup, and fish got us through so much.

I'm raising four children on a farm in Idaho, in the United States. There's definitely a familiar hustle and bustle about the morning, and meal times. I was born and raised in Finland. The word "touko" is present in "toukokuu", which means the month of May in Finnish.

Hello! Thank you for allowing me to have this small window into you and your family's breakfast! Your channel was recommended to me, by KZbin, and I've subscribed! I'm terribly late to your channel, but I can't wait to see what's in store! I really liked your earrings, by the way! They're very pretty!
