I come to find out a few hours later, he sees my friend, called her by name, and asked where we had gone to because he wanted to talk more and was sorry her had been detained. He was invited back the next year to perform again, killed it, then was walking through the casino at 1am, came across a karaoke club in the casino, jumped on stage and went full Morris Day on everyone there. He sang, made jokes, and had a great time with everyone. That’s a class act.

QUOTE FROM PRINCE 1981 ROLLING STONE MAG INTERVIEW: Prince has written, arranged, performed and produced three albums to date (For You, Prince and Dirty Mind), all presenting the same unique persona. Appearances to the contrary, though, he says he’s not gay, and he has a standard rebuff for overenthusiastic male fans: “I’m not about that; we can be friends, but that’s as far as it goes. My sexual preferences really aren’t any of their business.” A Penthouse “Pet of the Month” centerfold laid out on a nearby table silently underscores his point.

When they asked Andre Cymone how far the sexual experimentation went when Prince was living with him, he said, it depended on how many people were there! That entire era needs to be dissected. As an 80’s baby, 1980, I grew up listening to Morris Day, Prince, Shella E, etc. especially since I’m a midwestner. Minneapolis is the home of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the pioneers of funk and R&B as it relates to Janet Jackson and Prince as well as a host of others, and the Midwest continues to be slept on as it pertains to its contribution to the sound that’s out now. @@lauraveney1412 What's does that supposed to mean? Prince was jealous of the The Time, because every showcase Prince had with The Time they out performed Prince and the Revolution. Even Prince said that he created a Monster. I love and respect Prince but he was on some sucka shit.

Why would Morris claim that Prince used Grand Central demos to get signed to Warners? David Z recorded the demo personally, he talks about it here, including how Prince played all the instruments: From 11:20 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWiph4yObNmar5o Prince quit Champagne to work for Chris Moon of Moonsound - Chris gave Prince the keys to his studio, and in return Prince helped him write radio commercial jingles (Chris was chief audio engineer at the largest ad agency in Minneapolis). Chris taught Prince studio craft, and how to do his own demos, he even co-wrote Prince's 1st single, 'Soft and Wet'. He talks about all that here, including how he introduced Prince to Owen Husney, who got Prince his recording contract: From 14:20 - soundcloud.com/funkatopia/chris-moon-interview-7-20-2018 Chris brought Owen Prince's demo, and Owen decided to take Prince on, but he had him re-record the demo to a more professional standard with David Z, to shop the record labels: Owen Husney (from 20:30) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gafHep9maZV4gpY Owen donated Prince's demo to the Minnesota Historical Society: www.mnhs.org/media/news/10962 "Accompanying the kit is a silver demo reel of three Prince songs, two recorded at Sound 80 Studios with sound engineer David “Z” Rivkin and one recorded at Moon Sound Studios in Minneapolis. “Soft & Wet” and “Baby” ended up on his debut album “For You,” but the third song “We’ll Make It Through the Storm” was never released. " From Per Nilsen's 'Dance Music Sex Romance, Prince: The First Decade', p. 24-33, "After seeing Prince at work in his studio, he approached him about collaborating... "...I will build a package for you, and I will try to get you out there." "As it turned out, Prince's deal with Moon effectively marked the end of Champagne. There was already a growing rift between Prince and the rest of the group.... Prince had to leave his guitar at LaVonne Daughterty (Morris' mom) when he parted ways with Champagne... It really hurt when LaVonne took his guitar. It was really ugly. Chris Moon hooked him up with some gear." Champagne tried to continue without Prince, but called it quits after only a few months." "Prince worked tirelessly around the clock in Moon's studio, often staying the entire weekend... One of the first songs Prince composed by himself, both lyrics and music, was "Baby", which materialised on 'For You' in 1978" "In addition to the tracks Prince committed to tape at Moon's studio, he recorded many songs and musical ideas on a simple cassette recorder; his song writing was already prolific. "In the meantime, Moon played Prince's demo tape to Owen Husney, who ran The Ad Company, an advertising agency in Minneapolis... Husney called Prince in New York to express his interest in becoming his manager. 'He was at his sister's house. He was really quiet...." "The next step was to contact David Rivkin and get him to help Prince put together a new demo at Sound 80 in Minneapolis where Rivkin was now working. Husney felt the songs Prince had recorded at Moonsound 'weren't by any means ready for presentation to a company, albeit they showed the talent.' "Prince and Rivkin spent the entire winter of 1976-77 at Sound 80, re-recording some of the Moonsound songs. "For the demo tape, Prince and Husney chose 'Baby' and 'Soft and Wet'... The Sound 80 sessions were important in shaping Prince's future musical style since it was the first time he worked with synthesizers, including an Oberheim 4-Voice... "Husney and Levinson put together a press kit in order to promote Prince to the record companies." Morris leaves all this out of his book, but tells the Prince character that he fraudulently used Grand Central demos to get himself signed to an unprecedented 3-album Warners recording contract, the cornerstone of his career. All this conveniently after Prince has passed.

Looking forward to this entire interview. Prince WAS "The Time", he created the Morris Day persona along with Morris, just google Jamie Starr (The Starr Company). Prince wrote & produced all of The Time's biggest hits, 777-9311, Cool, Get it Up, Jerk Out, Jungle Love, The Bird etc. I respect Morris & love The Time, but Prince made that band, facts!! RIP Prince the GOAT
