thankyou Brad you are a star for keeping these old girls on the road. Reguarding the younger generations. A freind has a 1895 narrowboat the technology of how the front bow was molded and cast has been forgotten and can longer be repoduced. You would think that with the worlds modern technology that couldnt happen. Proving that if the younger generations are willing to learn and pass it on then the information wouldnt be lost. If technology is forgotten then the human race is moving backwords. The concorde for another example made 50yrs ago and we no longer have the tech to replace it. Its up to you youngens? do you want to move forward or backwards?

Well said Chris 👏 👏 👏… part of the issue as I see it Chris is that as a once young person myself it took me another 20 years of life experience to fully appreciate what I had lost when my own grandparents passed, so much knowledge locked away in the heads of our seniors and it’s our job to record as much as we can and pass it down either through hands on experience or recorded media… thanks again for commenting mate 👍😉 all the best JC👍😉

The Saurer Diesel looks very Similar to an early B.M.C. 2.2 Diesel...| the Rocker Cover especially...there are still B.M.C. 2.2/2.5 Parts available.
@morrislcrescue2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter, I’ll pass that on to the young fella… the LC5 engines were apparently built under license by Morris at that time so wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case… that particular engine doesn’t have a great reputation for reliability… cheers JC 👍😉

@@morrislcrescue Those B.M.C. 2.2/2.5 Diesels used to crack Combustion Chambers in 'Hot Soak' situations the simple preventative measure was to use a 73 Centigrade Thermostat instead of the original 82 Degree OEM Thermostat. have installed and maintained many of them back in the Day. my Boat has a 1977 B.M.C. 2.5 which was rescued from the Thames Riverbed and currently has 12 Thousand Hours running Time on it. I think Saurer was a Swiss Company that did the Diesel conversion work for B.M.C.?

@@cerealtiller that’s amazing Peter, quite a recovery effort from a river bed mate !!! I do know the Saurers used in the Morris trucks had some re-engineering done by Morris that may not have worked as well as expected unfortunately… not man of them here in Australia but I have spoken to a couple of older club members who did use the diesel version and said they weren’t a bad engine but just didn’t seem to have the reliability of some of the other makes at that time. I’d certainly snap one up if it came onto my radar just for the sake of preserving history👍 Thankyou for the technical information as well, always handy to have this stored away in the memory bank for later use 👍😉 kindest regards JC

Hi great to watch nice guy question did they build a four wheel drive model and how about a pickup body
@morrislcrescue2 жыл бұрын
Hi there DONALD, Thankyou for tuning in mate and great to have you with us. In that series of Morris LC vehicles there was no factory four wheel drive that I am aware of but Morris certainly made any number of larger four wheel drive trucks and many military vehicle variants mostly during and after WW2. These little LC3’s could probably be equated to something like an early Ford F series pickup and although having a considerably less powerful motor were geared low which suited the poor condition of many Australian roads in the 1950’s, they could also carry around a ton and 1/4 comfortably. There was a vehicle called the LC3U ( U = utility ) produced in smaller numbers as the same time which had a pickup body on the rear, a diff more suited to highway speeds but with a lower load carrying capacity - these LC3U’s are around but not common and I am lucky enough to own an example… unlike the American pickups the well body on these LC3U’s had a wooden frame with a metal skin ( very English 😂) and as a result not many survived. Rare as pink unicorns 🦄 today to see one with the original pickup bed… hope this answers your questions Donald and look forward to hearing from you again when you tune for more Morris action at the bottom of the World 🌎😂 kindest regards JC👍😉
